An idea popped into my mind this night.
I want to implement bitching betty on my cell phone. I want to hear "Warning! Incoming Missle!" when I get an SMS, I want my cell to tell me "Heat level critical" when I am reaching my bandwith limit. I want "New target aquired" as soon as I get a mail.
Is there any way to extract these sounds from the game? Has anyone ever conciderd that?

So far as I can tell, it is possible to extract them. Problem is, they aren't in a format that is readily usable, they'd need to be converted.
Go into the directory where MWO is installed. Open the "game" folder. You should see a few folders and a bunch of .pak files. Use a file archiver (like 7-Zip) to open "sounds.pak". I think the sounds you are looking for are either in the "cockpit" or "dialogue_eng" folders. Inside each folder you will find 3 files, with file extensions ".fdp", ".fev", and ".fsb". After that, you're on your own.
edit: I also just want to say that having BB as a ringtone would be ******* awesome

I managed to extract the files, they are within the "dialogue_eng.fsb" file.
Currently, I´m having a hard time converting them. Some files are scrambled, most are cut off front and end.
Instead "Warning, Incoming Missle" I get "arning, Incoming Missl."
Those with knowledge of audio conversion are surely at advantage.

Realize this is semi-dead thread.. But has anyone made any headway with this project? Cause I'd like a few of them myself. (If the Dev's are reading this.. Have the WarHorns as downloadable on your sound file storage site, would be Awsome-sauce.)

There is an app called FSBextractor. That will allow you to convert the FSB sounds into their individual components, in various formats.

No, nonononono. Please don't do this. PGI has been supportive of us using the game files (see my thread in the Fan Art section), but outright sharing of their files and assets is probably far over the grey line. We don't want them starting to encrypt the pak files, which will make it far more difficult to do things with in the future.
They are ok with us sharing the info on how to do it. Let's just take what we've been given and teach others how to do it as well, instead of doing the work for them.
