With the Hellbringer, you honestly should want to range instead of brawl at all costs. It can brawl, but not well... so just range and be smart at where you set up to fire... instead of trying to worry about the left torso too much (which, you should have at least have figured out torso twisting to spread damage to the arms and right torso first).

Um, no.

It has
  • FOUR HIGH MOUNTS
  • ECM
  • Fully ablative shield side
  • Better speed
  • Fits better tonnage wise in a CW deck.

I love my Warhawk but for this kind of build the Hellbringer stands out with it's unique collection of attributes.

6x SPL's + 3MG's + ECM is loveable. Also had nice matches with 2 UAC2's+ 5 SPL's+ECM.

Serious builds? Laserboating: CERML's or MPL's with lots of Heatsink and a TC.

So, the ones that say +5% yaw are for that side only....and the ones that say +10% energy cooldown are for that arm only. Got it.

They apply to whatever it says in the brackets if it's specific to one part. If it says +10% energy cooldown (RA), then it only applies to the right arm.

Easy mode:
6xMPL, in head, left torso and left arm. Use the entire right side as a shield.
ECM
As many DHS as you can cram in.

I have dominated in so many games with that build, it sometimes feels like cheating.

C-bill farming machine:
2xLRM15 (Artemis optional) +1080-1440 ammo
6xERSL (6xSPL for more umph)
ECM
CAP
1xTAG

This is a mech that excels at farming c-bills, (obviously works best if it is an Invasion variant Prime) and is designed to stay in the middle of the team. Use TAG to defeat ECM and provide bonus c-bills when used to spot and damage the enemy with LRMs. Stay away from the enemy until later on in the match, when you have nearly run out of LRMs. Then clean up with the surprisingly deadly 6xERSL or 6xSPL. Again, use that right side as a shield, as it will have TAG and the empty LRM launchers.

I've mastered 6 Hellbringers across two accounts.

Thats how I run it. I don't use the arms for anything.

Always bring the ECM. No exceptions otherwise just run a TBR instead.

High shoulder hard points for poking and hill humping.

1xLPL,6xERML

I find that 7 x MPL works better for me. I group the 4 torso MPL together and the 3 arm MPL on a separate trigger to avoid ghost heat.

It's slightly hotter and of course has less range, but the shorter beam duration means I can get back behind cover sooner and avoid some of the return fire.

I run gauss + 4 ERMLs. All weapons mounted nice and high in torsos and I strip armor from arms to free up tonnage. Runs VERY cool (and for a clan mech as well) and makes for a very effective peek-a-boo build which is probably how you wanna be playing the HBR.

I've tried other builds like MPL and ERML boats, but the gauss + ERML combo is what has given me by far the most success.

No one has mentioned the cheese build yet? Holy wow.

2 UAC5, 4 ERML, ECM. 4 tons ammo, 2 heat sinks in legs.

If you can't own with that... well I just don't know what to tell you.

It's not a good build

If it were a good build, people would be all over it.

Virtually most clan ballistics outside of the Gauss Rifle aren't considered serious builds. Showing one match in the solo queue tells you nothing about it's actual productivity vs competent pilots that ignore such terrible options.

So much this. Sure, it is a FUN build, but it is extremely wasteful with damage and ammunition. Not particularly fast to kill a target that armor rolls, either. Limited in effectiveness against enemies that present themselves only for the briefest of moments. This is why PPFLD is, has, and always will be king. One shot maximizing the damage.

I will say that the CUAC 5 build is at least decent for putting up big damage numbers, and also for getting people to put their heads down.

I think we sometimes lose sight of that.

They aren't the most efficient at scoring quick kills on targets with open components - but people make them out to be a lot worse than they really are - or perhaps they over glorify the IS UAC 5 builds.

Have you played them recently? On something like an CTF-IM? It's really not that great.

Honestly I think people still equate "IS UAC" with 2x IS UAC 5 + 2x PPC". A build that is dead and relied on 14 tons of PPCs to be as effective as it was."
