Hello, brand new player in need of some help. I saw a guide in here but it is woefully outdated and need a bit of help.
I have a Saitek X52 joystick/throttle combo, but when i try to play the game, I cannot get half the functions to work that this controller-rig has.
example, i cannot bind the throttle up/down to the throttle lever....
as well as other dials etc on the thing.
and when I went into the testing grounds etc, all my mech did was run berserk, when I finally used keyboard commands to get it to stand still, all it does is turn in place. I am in severe need of some help.
A search of the forums came up with this:
http://mwomercs.com/...o-profileguide/
But I am very new to this hardware and game so its not making alot of sense.

I have same setup. You'll need to ditch the joystick, but you can play with the throttle and be pretty successful.
After you install the software that came with it, you need to go to saiteks site and download the real software and install that. IT removes the original software, but theres a driver in the first one the isn't in the second, so you have to do them in that order. If its not plugged in before you launch the game it won't work. I recommend replugging it before you start the game, as well.
If you want forward to be forward on the throttle you need to invert the V axis.
The functions I have mapped to it are...
Turn left and turn right, as left and right on the throttle hat.
Lock target - up on throttle hat
Center legs - down on throttle hat
Jumpjets - D button
Toggle Arm Lock - E button
Show overlay - map to the top of the slider, so you can slide it up to see who everyone on your team is
Aiming, firing, zoom, arties, and UAV's can all go on the nice gaming mouse that you need to go out and buy.

Had the same problem. Been using Saitek for 10+ years. Very loyal to the brand. Unfortunately, MWO doesn't play well with sticks.
I'm about as stubborn as they come, but even I had to admit that the way to go was Throttle and Mouse. Sorry. You can try it yourself and deal with all the frustration of work arounds. But in the end you'll see what I saw. Save yourself all the time and bother and go throttle mouse.

After alot of monkeying, I have actually gotten it to work for the most part, but there are just some buttons on the sticks that don't seem to work out. Like you cannot bind to them. have you had this problem?

Yeah, I button(the clutch) on the throttle and the pinky button. They are linked somehow and it just doesn't like th egame. I had the pinky button working once and then it stopped forever.
I tried for three months and was able to become nearly average and almost not a detriment to my team by figuring out ways to aim finely using a joystick. I found that the best way to aim with the stick is to get it close using the stick, then use the throttle to move yourself forward or back to fine tune the aim.
I highly recommend you disconnect the stick, get a huge mousepad, and a nice mouse with switchable DPI, though. I've been off the stick and on the mouse for a month or two now and I consistently get high very high scores.Using the stick was a nice trainer though, because once I moved to mouse, it was like turning the game onto easy mode, as when I was using a stick, I had to figure out all sorts of ways to setmyself up with more time to aim, and that playstyle is kind of OP when you use it with a mouse. Sort of like running with a backpack full of rocks will make you fast
