I have a friend that needs a new laptop he wants be able to play at 1080p with at least medium settings. The budget the lower the better he is still saving money. I'm just not sure what kind of laptop specs it will take to run the game.

The only real way to save money on a PC computer is to build your own tower from parts.

I had a similar laptop with a i5 u 4th gen and gt 750m (which is actually way better than gt840m) it was like 20 ish fps on 1080p. so you ll def need at least a gtx 570 and a nice i7 to run ok with 1080p.

Sagers and clevo with the above meantioned specs will run it on 1080p. And you ll get them used for like 500-700 bucks.

I have a similar laptop with a better CPU but the same GPU.

Forget 1080p. I can barely average 35-40FPS at 1366x768p at lowest possible settings. With his laptop his frames will be even lower because this game is CPU bound.

If you want 1080p, then you need a minimum GTX860M with either the fastest dual core (4200H) or an i7 quad core.

it will be always a matter of price.

I do it on an MSI-GS70 stealth pro with GTX870M. it can do 1080p with max settings fluently. (i think you can find these for 1500-1600... i think)
if you can spend around 1700-1800 you could go with one of the new MSI GS series with GTX970M. 900 series are beasts.

Even I run MWO on 720 res, and mine isn't too old. Keep in mind that MWO is more CPU heavy compared to most games and mobile processors tend to be a bit lower performing (I think it has to do with power usage), so it is a bit of a double whammy for this game.

Basically, I can play many new games at 1080 and high settings, but I play this one at 720 and mostly low settings except for high detail settings. I could use more RAM (and it might help a bit), but I might be looking for a new Lappy this summer anyway.

Alienware M15x
740i processor
AMD 5850 HD mobile Radeon
6GB Ram
Windows 7

He does not want a desktop I already offered to build one. He has no good place to set one up. His mother hoards a bit.

Its funny, I spent about $300 more on my PC, than I did on my laptop, and my PC just blows it away... That being said my laptop can do 1080p at low detail just fine, no graphical slow downs.... Just kind of wish I spent a few hundred more and gotten a better GPU.

What my laptop is, is a MSI-GE60 Leopard.

Personally I'm waiting for win 10, skylake, titan x to all be released then I will be picking a couple of machines up, chock full of SSD's, many GB of RAM & some overclocking involved along the way. Maybe some LG 34UC97-S monitors as well, unless I can find something equivalent with a lower ms response time in the interim.

But as you could buy a brand new car for what that would cost I would recommend posting some budget guidelines for what is being sought ;)

This is what I would for my self http://www.xoticpc.c...0se-p-7690.html but he is very indecisive about his budget. A decent laptop with a i7 and a gtx 860m would probably make him happy.

Anything from XoticPC with an i7 4710M or better and GTX 860M or better.

Also, why isn't this in the hardware subforum?

how can 1 stick be dual channel? I'd say spend a extra $40 to get 2x8GB
