Wow, lots of Dallas area folks here. We should all get together some Saturday when MWO goes live and have a mech pizza and beverage party. The pods in Dallas are still available to play? Do you have to wait for an event?

Used to fly from DFW to Chicago once a year for a day of play when they 1st opened. They then opened another over by that theater in Dallas off the canyon, & I had to move to another state. Just can't win.
Watching Madcat operators come from video games blow themselves up or shutdown w the 1st salvo was common. Great fun & still have many of my printouts.

I started playing in the pods in '93-'96 in Dallas at VWE and D&B. Found them again in Houston at a D&B and played there for every birthday in my circle of friends. (There's nothing like piloting a battle-mech while tipsy from too many PPC shots). After D&B divested themselves of their pods was a dark time of no Battletech. And then came MechCorps. I play at least once a month now and can proudly say I'm in the top 10 pilots in Houston.
I'm under 50 missions from earning my 1000 pin. :D

I like this idea, yes the pods are still up, no you don't have to wait for an event.

They have "Boomtime", for about 25$ you play from 6pm to midnight or whenever they stop, same goes for Red Planet too.

I was lucky enough to play at gencon 2010 in Indy. I wish I'd been able to get in more than one game but the line was long and I was busy like everyone else. But I would play again in a heartbeat and actually put one in my Living Room if I could. LOL...

I use to play with the set that was in Michigan for awhile. No idea if they are still there or not. Fun devices.

Bring them to Germany, plox.

There used to be two set up in Berlin for a couple of months. Of course when I finally had the chance to go there, it was on a business trip and I didn't get the chance to even get near the location...

On another note, wouldn't it be a major PR stunt if PGI got hold of a couple and set them up with a new interface and exterior as prime showcase for their new MWO game on conventions? Heck, just imagine some minor redesign in "MWO style" and the crowds queueing up to get a shot at sitting in one... :D

Sweet. We are *so* there....
See ya soon. Got to feed the need, and maybe we can get a company level MWO group based there.

Well on a good night there's around 7 or so, one for each pod, so we'll get at least a Lance and a demi-lance, or a Comstar Level I reinforced. I know we've got a thread for the VGL recruitment going: http://mwomercs.com/...81-vgl-vwe-ddc/

Played in the pods in 2 different incarnations. Did several trips to get my feet wet back in the mid-90's at the Chicago VW location then grew in skill at the pods in the Dave and Busters in Utica, Michigan (suburb of Detroit). Why D&B decided to take those out still boggles my mind!

Used to be great, had a friend that for years worked at D&B and was able to set myself and my buddy in the pods with much of the settings changed up. Really got our skills honed to a fine point.

i use to play at the Wizards of the Coast main site in the U-District in Seattle, same place Gargoyle played. I am happy to hear that the new pods are in Kirkland now. Will have to get up there some time although it is a long way from my house.

I will be heading to Fallout Shelter Arcade some time over Christmas break to get started on my pod-based mech career. They've got 12 Tesla II pods and they're only a few miles from my apartment. ;)

Im also in Dallas and the meeting idea sounds cool. Maybe a full scale MWO launch party eh? Alot of MW people here, its in the central US, and we have a pod location, so it seems like a great place to have one. Sign me up!

And yeah, our BattleTech pod location. If the Dallas region people want to meet this would be a good place

I use to work at the original VirtualWorld Btech/Red Planet in Memorial City, Mall - Houston TX. Ah the good ol' days.
our paths probably crossed there! I live in Central Texas, discovered your VW while visiting my girlfriend(wife now). Went back many times and bought all the manuals there. My best friend and I traveled around TX to try all of them from Dallas to the D&B sites as well. I signed up on the MechCorp site but have not made it to play yet. The Loki was my favorite to pilot at VW.

I always go on at least one run in the pods at Gen Con every year. It's a must-do!

We will be at GenCon again next year. Hopefully we will also be showing off some other new 'Mech goodness as well.

Got to play in the Chicago pods once back in the Virtual Geographic League days. (Still have my card somewhere, though it once spent a winter outside so doesn't look as good as it used to.) Since then I've played at D&B in California once or twice and up at Utica once. Was hoping the pods would show up at Youmacon 2010/2011, but no joy there. (Hint hint)

I've never actually played with the basic controls, I'd played Mechwarrior games with a rudder equipped joystick so I used the rudder petals. I also recall that on my first or second game I was changing around my weapon groupings despite not having read any instructions on how to do that. I just figured it out on my own. :) I believe I came in second in my first game and hopefully still have my printout somewhere. (I loved the play-by-play printouts.)
