I played something in Vegas before these pods, though it was similar. You could even get a VHS (yes, VHS) recording of the battle.

I played them way back when, and I actually have both manuals for them (1993 VW Center and 2003 Firestorm). They're greatly out of date and fun to read.

I have over 400 battles in the pods. Nearly all of them were in the pods that used to be in the WOTC store that used to be in the U-district of Seattle.

At the 2002 GenCon I won the MW4:Merc Tournament in the pods.

The final round scores:

Taft (GargoyleKDR) 11 kills, 5 deaths, score: 11
Farrington (Alareth) 5 kills, 5 deaths, score: 5
Smith 3 kills, 7 deaths, score: 3
Carter 2 kills, 6 deaths, score: 2

The mission was in the Liao Jungle at night with Heavy Fog.

Played with them in Dallas at Virtual World over a decade ago. Played Red Planet, too, which was awesome. I liked the whole theme they had going, even having the bar with the Battletech-themed drinks.

Only had the pleasure to play once at a mall in Houston. My first time out I had three kills. They were all standing close to eachother. One was about gone,I hit him with an alpha strike. Boom. The explosion I gues took down the other two. Any how I got the credit for all 3. I would love to play again.

I played at Virtual World: Pasadena back in 1995 I think. Amazing experience. There is no way to replicate the first few moments of frantically hitting about 20 switches to set up weapons groups, putting your hands on the throttle and stick, and taking your first steps towards the upcoming battle.

Back then, you had to target the pelvis with like 3 alphas to down a mech the fastest. It was a tricky shot in a small area. Now, if mechs had pelvis areas like the new atlas, it would be easy peasy. :)

My first BT game ever was in a pod at one of those giant gaming complexes back in 1998. It was my nephews 4th birthday party
and my brother talked me into coughing up the 6 bucks for 10 minutes or so. On the way home I bought MW2, but then found
MPBT:Solaris on aol, which quickly became a cash-sucking vortex. Finding gamestorm changed everything, and sealed my
fate as an addict for life.

If MPBT:Solaris or MPBT:3025 came back online right now, I'd be there in a heartbeat......no surprise to see so many from those
days here at MWO, and I am sure we will see many more.

That was the closest one to me, I never got the chance to make it up there before it closed. :)

Yeah I went and played at the Chicago VW Center way back in 96 before they closed down. Also played at the Houston location when I was down seeing family. MechCorps in Houston has like 16 of the pods still and does regular nights and tournaments and even takes some of the pods on the road to Cons and major events.

Here is a link to the places still operating the Tesla Virtual World pods.

Oh I have heard of them but never got a chance to play in one. There has never been one within a thousand klicks from where I live and I've never seen any at any con. If I ever do, I'd do anything for a chance.

I've missed out on the pods for the past year, as my family grew by one (new pilot to train :) ) but soon I will be back to my favorite haunt in Dallas. The Tesla Pods are an experience like no other, and a lot of that has to do with who you play with. We're all fans of mechs and mayhem, and we have as much fun as we can, so get to a site near you if you can!

See links in sig for info needs.

Also, www.getinthepods.com for con appearances near you!

The Dave and Busters in Michigan used to have a set, and whenever I could go, the majority of the cash I'd drop in the games would be in those pods. I know there's a game store in Michigan that does BattleTech campaigns, and has a set of the pods... problem is I'm in the Metro Detroit area, and the store is in Lansing, which is a good 90 minute drive. (It's also the closest place that does CBT, more's the pity.)

I've only seen video of them but I'd give YOUR left arm to play in one.
