I'm thinking of something similar to Zombie Yoshi, where I'll have 1 or two personal rides probably varied in class, and then fill out some inventory to support a team in various roles as needed.
Does anyone else feel ready to "own" their mechs?

All you're missing is a cane. Oh no hand, and no melee. yet.

Melee would be awesome, but hard to implement.
Anyway:
Its good to see most people would be happy without having 50 mechs at their diposal.
It takes so much time to get used to a Mech setup anyway I think its going to be a good compromise.
Now if we can just get to play...
Of course they had to push it back to August 7th so I won't be able to play on launch anyway... but shortly thereafter!!

I agree to a point...I would like to get one mech and it's variants all unlocked before moving on (the ADD talking), but prolly won't. I don't see any problem with piloting the same mech or variant again and again especially when there is stuff to work toward. I have noticed in previous installments of MW that if you get too good other players may raz you saying you can't pilot other mechs, but who cares what they think. After all, there shoudl be thousands online at any one time and the chance of being on the same map with the same players over and over again is remote (unless you purposefully drop with your friends/unit/house). I will probably try out as many mechs initially as I can to see which ones fit my playstyle. I think that is prudent because just because you like a mech the first time you pilot it doesn't mean there isn't another mech that is more suitable for your playstyle.

I'll probably get them all but focus on one or two, probably a medium for general combat, and a heavy for fire support. Not a big fan of lights or assaults.

^^^ I think Medium/Heavy is the way to go
I know alot of people talk crap like assaults have way more firepower and armor--- and they do...
But when i used to play MW4:Mercs online I would tear it up with a Hellbringer against Atlases and Cyclops all day simply because, yes.... you could dodge.
Those things are slow as all get out...

I've just wanted a mech of my own, something for me to excel at. I suppose it's because it's not very much like me, I'm moderately good at everything, but I don't really excel at anything... So in this game, I'll be sure to not let my star down.
