Here's something: Remote Sensor Dispenser and Remote Sensor
The way I figure it would work in this game if added: the dispenser acts as a piece of equipment like a B/CAP; plus the "ammo" can only be placed in the section with the dispenser. A senor can only be dropped when the mech has stopped and comes out of the little hatch the third-person drone comes out of. The sensor adds a tiny marker that's a dark, dull green when no mech is in the proximity of it and 'lights-up' to a bright green when there's a mech in the proximity on the battlegrid map of friendly units that have a B/CAP or Command Console equipped.
Yes it would take a fair bit coding and UI work.
