I don't disagree with a smaller HP buff but +20 armor and +20 structure is ridiculous.

Ridiculous?

I don't even own Catapults, specifically because it's always laughably easy to remove their arms and neuter them.

They are high, giant, SQUARES, they are almost impossible to miss.

Let's wait and see how it goes shall we?

The patch tomorrow will bring much needed buffs to ole big ears. +20 structure, +20 Armor.

No changes to K2 or Jester, however.

Discuss?

I want PGI to fix the dumbo ears instead of giving it more structure though...

Eh I dunno. I've only ever deliberately shot at the arms of a Cat if it's on the verge of falling off. Any other damage to the arms are accidental -- the boxes get into the way or some such. CT hits are still more reliable to take them out.

Current values: IS 20, Armour 40
New values: IS 40, Armour 60

So from 60 points to 100 points.

As reference, the CPLT CT is 42+84=126 points and its side torsos are 30+60=90 points.

If I'm not mistaken, it's going to be the first 'mech ever to have sturdier arms than side torsos.

This is incorrect, even for the A1, by the way. Added tomorrow will be 10 Structure and 20 Armor for the A1, and 10 Armor for the C1 and C4. It is a significant boost for the A1, where losing an arm means a loss of 50% firepower.

I used to disagree with Ulti and Deathlike everytime they posted something, Now a days I think I'm starting to wipe away some rose tinted glasses. I might actually buy me some catapults.

I'd still like the Catapult to not get extra launchers hanging from the ears if there's enough tubes to hold the equippped LRM/SRMs and if they can't be prevented.. (if they haven't fixed it already) allow the extra SRM launchers be mounted outside the pillboxes while the LRMs stay within so the doors don't have to be opened to launch the SRMs but have to be opened to launch the LRMs.

It was annoying when my SRM4s were thrown inside the pillbox but the LRM10s were relocated outside.

My god. That's... a huge buff.

That's a whole extra alpha strike from a MadCat. Maybe the whale will make a resurgence.

Gotta admit I know I should Ct or side torso a cat but my necklace of cat ears won't get any bigger going for ct shots.

Nothing really changes, we'll keep shooting that big old CT.

They also buffed the CT structure by +10. I guess that will help it a bit.

No, that is correct. Read the notes. The A1 gets +20 Structure for LA/RA, +20 Armor for LA/RA. The CT structure gets the +10.

The C1 and C4 get +10/+10.

Oh, I did in fact read the notes.
And all three currently have +10 to LA/RA Structure. Math.

Below is the current quirk structure of the CPLT. Note the highlighted sections:

The changes I indicated are correct, and are 10 structure less than assumed by stjobe and Greenjulius.

Those are the current quirks, aren't they?

We are talking about the quirks that will be added tomorrow.

Edit: I think you and I misunderstood each other. I am talking about the total buff, not over previous quirks.

Let's not make this personal. I am only listing the patch notes for tomorrow.

Of course we are talking about the quirks which will be added or changed tomorrow. My point stands that the change from today to tomorrow will be +10/20 and +0/10, not +20/20 and +10/10. Not making it personal, my apologies if it came across that way, I was just trying to keep things in perspective.

Reply changed above; I didn't understand what you were specifying earlier. I was not saying it was added on top of previous quirks, simply the flat +20/+20 quirk.

eh, why shoot them anywhere but the CT anyhow? Still one of the easiest mechs to core in the whole game.

Because it should be viable to shoot off the arms carrying its main weapons (assuming it's not a K2 or something) if you so choose, not HURR HURR DURF ARMS STRONGER THAN TORSOS, and that's assuming you always have a good shot at its torso anyways.

Such a massive HP buff is not needed.

They can (and should) get an HP buff to arms, just not an absurdly high buff.

I think its a smart move, those Pods are the first things targeted for everything but the K2, once they're gone so are all your weapons that matter.

Return of the splat Cat imminent?

Eh, just means that any MPL thunderbolts/dual gauss/laser barf "meta" PPFLD builds won't be instacoring/destroying catapult ears so effortlessly now. Not sure what all the fuss is about really. (I think of it like this: no lower arm/fist/complicated machinery beyond the missile system, so the missing tonnage goes to structural integrity & strength - hence the ungainly box shape.)
