Perhaps I am more just thinking how it worked back in the day in MW4.

A potential recruit would express interest in a unit, they would get a trial of position to see if they were unit material. If they passed they would be accepted and given the rank of Mechwarrior.

it is more or less still the same.

Modern gaming environments are alot more toxic than the glory of our past eras though, so troll countermeasures are a natural evolution of what was once a formality, which in turn have taken the form of sibko programs.

We are all adults and we like to make sure it stays that way.
Lletting people join purely under the pretense of high skill levels is an unsound recruitment strategy considering the ever present goons, 4channers, what have you youngster shenanigans groupings.

I think Gloc you are putting to much into the word "sibkin"
yes the definition you gave is correct for the sourcebook clans (the books, and story of clans) however a gamming community has to have a way of letting new players decide if the unit of their choice is correct for them..
and having the title Sibkin is not ment to be derogatory in any way or to say a lack of skill or knowledge but a way for everyone to see you are new and should be greeted.. I just went through it and I can say truthfull bro that NO ONE in CWI treated me with anything except friendship and respect.. the sibkin/cadet is a rite of passage to make sure YOU are where you want to be and when your through you can say you passed the SAME crucible that EVERY CWI warrior has passed..

All clans will have some sort of Sib program it is part of the Clan Lore.... Go into the TS of one of the many clan units, you will be welcomed as a friend by them all, and play with a group and just see if you gell.. above all brother HAVE FUN..

:D

The sarcasm isn't appreciated, I was trying to be nice about it.

No sarcasm in the post.

Essentially, the sibkin process for us does 2 things:

1.) It allows us to take in a wider range of recruits and train them to meet our expectations because very few would pass on day one.

2.) It allows us to figure out if a new recruit is going to fit our dynamics in terms of attitude, willingness to learn and playstyle.

Essentially, if you have a good attitude, want to learn MWO and are proactive about improving, and show improvement with training, we feel we can help you get to where you and us want you to be.

However, if you have a bad attitude, or think you know it all, or you just are not a team player, there may be other units that better fit you.
