To translate that into MWO, I propose the following. Values are of course, flexible.
- An insulated weapon ( Be it a laser or PPC of any type) Generates half the heat it normally would, with the addition of two tons due to heatsinks dedicated to that weapon alone. Makes for a pointless insulated small laser, but a potential tradeoff to mechs that can mount, say a PPC vs an AC10.
- However, that also means it now has a recycle time that is twice as long.
- At halfway recycle time, you can fire the weapon again, at the risk of the weapon destroying itself. Much like how a UAC would jam. This risk is lowered linearly as the cooldown approaches 0 from 50%. ( An insulated weapon that has 45% Recycyle time remaining, would have a 90% chance of self destruct. )
