Star Citizen is like 20GB or more

It is projected to be 110gb at launch.

so it should be possible?
MWO isn't going XBOX now is it?

hell my SSD's have enough room for such an install

I'd be more concerned about performance, but then you could always turn it down a notch or 2

As it stands, Star Citizen is currently 25.5gb.

And it looks like this with out me touching up on the image, or making alterations.

MWO is currently 7.11gb, and with heavy post editing I can make it look like this.

Both are Cryengine.

How much money did you spend on this game, Lordred? How much content did you create promoting MWO? In what reality is your simple request to release HD art a "plea"?

Unless what we have in game are actually the full fidelity assets, in which case I have no words left.

Last I tallied. About 520$ I have spent, would have been more but I am a IS Purist, so I have not spent anything on the Clans.

I only create Screenshots, there are others who deserve a lot of credit for their fantastic work.

But yes, it is a plea, and will be till realized.

Lordred, have you examined the Loyalty, Resistance mech or IS faction textures yet? To my untrained eye, they seem to be 2k.

The Marik and Kurita ones from the Resistance Pack could not possibly be 2K textures.

I would love to at least see a bump up to 2k textures.

Most high end computers can probably run at this spec pretty easily. Its already a standard you find on many other games out on the market.

Today I wanted to buy a camo for one of my favorite Highlanders. Went into the camo editor, saw pixelated and jaggy camos and promptly closed it.

If PGI doesn't want me to buy camos then I'll happily oblige.

If it cant then it is not high end.

I've spent a not insignificant amount on mech customisation since beta (not including money spent on packs an hero mechs). Even though I can't see the mech myself I still prefer them to look different from the generic green. Of the 91 mechs currently in my bay I'd say around 60 of them are patterned.
To see the sorry state of them now is quite depressing to say the least, I've never known a game to take such a backwards step in texture quality.
Even though it would never happen, if I could get the MC cost back I'd be a happy gamer. I guess PGI just doesn't want any more of my money.

the best option for everyone is 2k textures for all standart camo and camouflage.
A tick in the launcher options - to use 2k or 4 texture (LIKE in WoT) You can simply give a choice to download and use textures achieving a high resolution or not. How this is done in the War Thunder
Customer size in 2015 is irrelevant. The current size of 7.1 GB.
But you look at games like MKX (30 or something like that) or GTA (60.5 GB). Old WoW and he was already 30.
And if you find an old video of 2012 with a closed Alpha, the game looked much better then now.
The picture quality is not only in the textures of mechs, but also the environment.

There is 2nd problem - Its fps or perfomance of users pc.
For 2k texturing you might upgrade video card with 4GB VRAM minimum.

if I could choose between texture maps and textures of mech, I would choose the 1st. Because texture and models of objects on maps (yellow stones on top Sulfuros) look terrible.

honestly who gives a **** about a larger than 4 gb install download? Hell i had COD patches that was larger than that and I have installs over 12 gb for the base game on Steam for example , Pillars of Eternity, nearly 16 gb , was over 6-8 gb download . XCOM 18 gb disk usage.. Honestly that is one pathetic excuse, it is like they just do not want to spend the time to actually do the textures and am using a technical excuse as a cop out.

Introduced over time, the bandwidth hit of higher res skins could be alleviated.

In the day and age we live in, I don't think bandwidth should really be a limiting factor. Just looking at games I have installed now, most are more than double what MWO sits at now.

Maybe thats just an opinion formed from where I live, but I have possibly the worst internet connection with the least bandwidth of anyone I know, and it would still be plenty.

PS - Viva le high res pack! :)

PGI have to be cognizant of those who play and pay for set amounts of download on a month to month basis. Overages are never good in those cases. ;)

I'd love to see a hi-res texture pack (when I build my rig up for Star Citizen, I'm sure I could use them), but really, I'd be happy if they just fixed the super low-res ones like the Pretty Baby.

Referring to 4gb install footprint or not enough time?
I guess former, but on this century it is mostly a non-issue
As to time, they have time to backpedal?

If you took away the "ME ME ME" in your comment you would be able to see that "others" don't get or even have access to Unlimited download amounts. Creating new Lower res packs is not back pedaling. They just create and apply them to ALL chassis in order to remain under the 4GB limit.

You care about "You". PGI has to care about its entire "'Playerbase".
