Figure a fun thread to go along with the sale to help out the new players that might be thinking about picking up a Hero.. So if your picking one up, Name it and state why.

for me, I'm getting the commando, "death's Kneel"

I've recently fallen in love with commando's and this one has been on the list. What is not to like about a super fast, all energy mech! Can't wait to get rolling in it. Either 4 ML's or 2 MPL's+ 2SPL's should be a fun mech.

Protector, Hellslinger, St. Ives' Blues, Loup de Guerre and La Malinche.

But, to be clear this means the only ones I don't own are Anansi, Gray Death, Flame & Fang, IV-Four, Pretty Baby and The Boar's Head, none of which I want. I already have the good ones.

I run my TDK with 4 MLs and an XL 175 engine, it's a great little mech!

But if I could buy a Hero for this weekend, I think I'd get the Misery. Fine Hardpoints, great Hitboxes, can zombie and tank rather well.

Gray Death and Sparky.

Booyah!

@Terciel: Flame and Fang aren't horrible - certainly not in the same category as the IV. Are the Hellslinger and La Malinche worth it?

Misery is what i am playing now.. Great mech! (i also own a jester which i love) though i am considering the Fang. if i really wanna burn through my MC i've had banked :P A Fast 60 ton mech with a rapid fire AC-10 just sounds fun.

Probably not, but I'm fond of both chassis. :)

I don't have any DRGs. I may grab Flame at some point, but it's just as likely I GXP the 1C and 5N through basic for the 1N. It is now the only chassis I don't own at least one of. (blushes)

Fun thread - I already had the Sparky and it's pretty fun. Try 6jj's and 6 mlas on it and it's some kinda giant Jenner. The mlas heat quirks give it some serious DPS.

I just bought a Yen Low Wang. Its not competitive, doesn't have earth shattering speed or anything but I just hear that it's a lot of fun to play. Got a bit of a cult following. I guess it's one of those mechs that are really rewarding to play when you can torso twist and work the map really well.

So far I'm having fun with it. The CN9-D with its LBX-10 quirk is just for lols but it can't kill anything. At least this thing can actually get kills :)

Pirates Bane,

first match was my favourite Locust map: canyon network.
Speed + ECM let me survive while annoying the enemy team

just the muzzleflash of my own machine gun is annoying like hell

X5, but only because I needed a 40 tonner for the CW decks, and I like to get paid extra....

Already have the ones I want. But I'll probably be running my Hellslinger for Assaults. It's admittedly not the best build, but it's a lot of fun.

I think I might buy the two dragon hero mechs (fang, flame) and possibly the death knell. I already have the boars head, jester, heavy metal, and a couple others. I just wish they could hurry up and come out with a King Crab hero mech. I play that mech more than anything else. I would prepurchase the hell out of a King Crab hero mech.

Pirates Bane and Huggin.
For fun, not because they are all that great.

For any newbie I recommend Firestarters, thus Ember.

Word of warning, I haven't been able to make this Atlas chassis work for me for anything.

heh for me its the opposite been doing great in it but my pb dies so fast xD for some reason i just get a adrenaline rush in the pb that i wanna commit suicide xD so far got all my assaults outta the way working on heavies atm with the TBR (I) ill try the Locust PB when i get to lights , also i always call the locust PB pretty baby instead of the real pretty baby to me i think that would shoulda been the pirates bane lol.

Well, the thing about driving the PB is it's a bit under-gunned for a Locust. I roll 2MPL 2SL, and just poke poke poke while providing ECM cover for my big neighbors. That game I just always was next to a bigger target until they only had a Banshee left and we only had me and an LRM Atlas shooting missiles into the roof left. And, well, you know how the story of a lone Assault vs a Locust tends to end... http://mwomercs.com/...led-by-locusts/

Great thread, thanks for starting it.

I haven't seen the Jenner Oxide mentioned. I'll probably pick it up. I picked up the F(C) last week for the 300XL engine and this will give me a second variant for mastering.

I was thinking of picking up the Yen-Lo-Wang, but I don't think I'd play it over my AH(L). I'd rather pick up two other variants for c-bills if I'm just using them to master the AH.

Any other hero would be my first mech of that chassis. For now I'd rather just concentrate on mastering the mechs I have before picking up something completely different.
