When defending Sulfurous Rift, the enemy always stages in C4 and then takes the Alpha gate. The reason this succeeds so often is because:

First:
When entering the gate, the defending team has very limited clear fire positions on the gate, maybe only 6 out of the 12 people actually have a shot.

Second:
When the enemy moves into the canyons directly past the gate, again, there is very limited clear fire positions on the enemy.

Thirdly:
The enemy stops in the canyons and hills just short of the defending team drop zone. From this position, along the hills and the edge of the 2 canyons, there is a broad firing position on the entire base and the landing zones are immediately there. This is when the attacking team is able to fire on the defenders as they drop in. From inside the base, there is not as much cover to fire back onto the canyon.

Initially, you might ask, why not just hold the canyon the same way they do?

The direction the attacking team is taking is along the "grain" of the canyon forcing a narrow firing position for the defenders. It's simply width vs. length. The side with the widest field of fire wins.

I believe the design of this map limits the flow of battle and should be re-evaluated.
