Hi everyone,
I want to take a moment to address something I see all the time; purchases. It seems that very few people understand exactly what they are giving PGI money for. First, it's very important to understand you aren't buying anything. You are paying for access to something; either bonus xp/cbills, a mech, colors, or cockpit gizmos. At the end of the day, when the game is over and PGI moves on you aren't going to walk away with a 24" diecast of a Direwolf painted up like a circus clown.
People constantly say, "How can you spend so much moneyzzz on this game?!?11!!" To them I say, "It's simple. I look at this the same way I look at going out for entertainment. Instead of merely watching a movie, I'm making one of my choosing. Instead of drinking myself stupid in a bar, I'm getting high on endorphins from exploding my enemies with LASERS AND CANNONS AND MISSILES."
That is all. Please carry on.

I see buying things more like supporting PGI and getting some nice virtual toys as a thank you.
Should the game shut down one day, of course all the toys would be gone, but that's not really the point in the first place.
Keeping the company going that runs the game is the point.

We're buying a service, that service being patches/maintenance/servers/updates.
