Structure

can only be changed in a MechFactory - maybe they have even to "create" a complete new production line just for your private Mech.
Thats nice isn't it?
So this should work for Omni as well as BattleMechs.
You buy your Mech and you have once the chance to make an upgrade - not a second time.
So if you think the Thor would be better with a 275 STD engine ??? - you take you Mech...for the most port it would be the Thor D
- you switch the Engine, 275 STD
- mount ES,
- no additional heatsink
- keep FF armor with max armor
- 3 JumpJets
- remove hand activators/keep lower arm activators (for better field of fire)
- place the "Dynamic" manually
- choose to have 8 free crit slots in each arm and each ST
- 31 t modul capacity for
- 2 Ballistic HP, 4 Energy HP, 2 AMS
Well that would be a great chance for Clan Mechs - but as far as i know they would still complaint that IS Mechs could swich when ever they want - so yes make it the same for IS Mechs. That would burn my money faster as i can earn it.
To prevent to much vanilla choices - we need lemons
A good lemon would be - you can't choose the Engine Rating as you wish:
you got some "room" +15-15 for Assaults and +/-10 Heavys +/-5 for Mediums and nothing for Lights - and you have to stick with the "weight groups"
based on the TT Movement Speed - the Engine Cap only stay for Mechs crossing the 150-170 kph border.
So for example the Stalker might have:
155-185;240-270;325-355 Engines
Catapult A1
120-140;185-205;250-270;315-335;380-400
Locust
60;80;100;120;140;160;180;200????
TimberWolf
215-235;290-310;365-385
