A comprehensive outline of expanded Skill Trees in both scope and depth for Battlemechs, Pilots and Facilities(new).

Battlemech Skill Tree (present)

-General (x2 Bonus Fully Elited)
Cool Run: Heat Dissipation +7.5% (15%) - 750 XP
Kinetic Burst: Acceleration +22.5% (45% - 1,000 XP
Twist X(Range): Max Torso Twist Range +10% (20%) - 2,500 XP
Heat Containment: Heat Threshold +10% (20%) - 1,000 XP
Hard Brake: Deceleration +25% (50%) - 1,500 XP
Twist Speed: Torso Twist Speed +20% (40%) - 2,500 XP
Arm Reflex: Arm Movement Speed +15% (30%) - 1,500 XP
Anchor Turn: Mech Turn Speed +10% (20%) - 3,500 XP

Battlemech Skill Tree (proposed)

All Basic Mech skills are active at the 'Elite' x2 Bonus level and removed from the Skill Tree in their present iteration to lessen the initial gap between new players and veterans. Below are minor additional tweaks players can train.

Hard Brake: Deceleration +10% - 5000 XP
Quick Ignition: Power Up/Down Speed 50% Faster - 4,000 XP

Speed Tweak: Maximum Speed +10% - 14,500 XP
Module: Extra Mech/Weapon Module Slot - 20,000 XP

Piloting Rank 2: Medium Mechs gain 15% Torso Twist and Turning Speed - 8,000 GXP
Weapons Specialist Rank 2: All Autocannons and Large Energy weapons gain 5% additional Range. Autocannons gain 10% Projectile Velocity - 3,500 GXP

Heavyweight: Heavy Mechs gain 10% Leg and Side Torso Armor and Structure - 12,000 GXP
Piloting Rank 3: Heavy Mechs gain 20% Acceleration/Deceleration and 10% Torso Twist Speed - 12,000 GXP
Weapons Specialist Rank 3: PPC, ER PPC and Gauss Rifle cooldowns reduced by 5%. Beam Duration reduced 5%.

-Ace
Eagle Eye: All Zoom Ranges Increased 20% - 10,000 GXP
Rocky: Assault Mechs gain 20% additional Center Torso Armor and Structure - 25,000 GXP
Piloting Rank 4: Assault Mechs gain 30% Acceleration/Deceleration Speed - 20,000 GXP
Weapons Specialist Rank 4: SRM Spread reduced by 20% beyond 100 meters. LRM20 Spread reduced by 25%. LBX Spread reduced by 10%. All Ultra Autocannon Jam Chance reduced by 2%.


-Allstar Unlock: Reduces Heat Production by 5%. Increases Sensor Range by 10%, Target Info Speed Increased by 10% - 50,000 GXP. Title Reward: Man and Machine





New Avalon Institute of Science
(Substitute Clan equivalent.)

The College of Biology/Medicine:

Toughness Specialization: Reduces Cockpit shake from weapons fire by 20% per rank. 2 Million C-Bills per rank, 3 ranks total.



The College of Engineering:

Control Systems Management: Reduces legged movement speed penalty to 50% or 45 KPH, whichever is faster. Rank 2 removes 'recently hit' penalty. 4 Million C-Bills per rank, 2 ranks.

Reinforced Structure: Reduces damage taken from falls by 5%. 1 Million C-Bills per rank, 5 ranks total.

Myomer Compensator: Reduces speed penalty from climbing slopes by 10% per rank. 3 Million C-Bills per rank, 3 ranks.

Streak SRM 4 - 5 Million C-Bills
Streak SRM 6 - 7 Million C-Bills
Ultra Autocannon 2 - 3 Million C-Bills

Ferro-Fibrous Plating: All Mechs equipped with Ferro-Fibrous Armor gain 1% Armor per rank. 2 Million C-Bills per rank, 20 ranks.

Refined Endo Steel: All Mechs equipped with Endo Steel gain 2% Structure per rank. 5 Million C-Bills per rank, 5 ranks.



The College of Military Science:

Suppression Fire: Artillery Strike duration and shell drops are doubled, damage per shell reduced by half. Air Strike now has two waves, the second wave occurring 1.5 seconds after the first with damage per bomblet halved. 3 Million C-Bills, 1 rank.

Strategic Positioning: Speeds up base capture time by 5% per rank. 5 Ranks, 500,000 C-Bills per rank. Available to Light and Medium Mechs only.

Awareness: Increases Sensor Range by 5% per rank. 1 Million C-Bills per rank, 3 ranks.

Training Day: XP and GXP gains from all sources increased by 10%. 5 Million C-Bills


The College of Finance:

A Worthy Investment: Increases baseline C-Bill rewards for victories and defeats by 10,000 C-Bills per rank. 4,000 GXP per rank, 3 ranks.

Contracted: Increases Contract C-Bill rewards by 15%. - 15,000 GXP

The New Guy: Decrease C-Bill cost of all Light Mechs by 20% - 3,000 GXP

Financial Manager: Decrease C-Bill cost of all Medium Mechs by 20% - 6,000 GXP

Trade Guru: Decrease C-Bill cost of all Heavy Mechs by 15% - 12,000 GXP

Market Savant: Decrease C-Bill cost of all Assault Mechs by 15% - 20,000 GXP

Modular: Reduce Module C-Bill costs by 25% - 20,000 GXP

Equipment Specialist: Selling Equipment, Weapons and Modules now returns 75% of item's original cost. - 15,000 GXP


The College of Political Administration:

Old Reliable: Loyalty Point gains from all sources increased by 10% - 15,000 GXP

If all of these get toned down by a lot - giving small boosts in the 2-5% range total with no doubles, I'm all for it. I think the problem with power creep of the skill tree nature is that new players and new mechs will be at such a disadvantage - you polarize the player base, reduce the likelihood of people buying and trying new mechs, and this results in more and more frequent stomps. Team with the un-elited/mastered mechs loses, and loses big.
