Here's the deal - not every mech is going to be the Timberwolf. There are MANY mechs that aren't optimal in this game. MOST of those mechs are Inner Sphere - even with quirks, the DRG-1N isn't exactly dominating the queues.

The Summoner just suffers from being a product of its age.

ES/FF being locked makes no sense at this point. The 'mechs that some people try to claim are "OP" already have them while the 'mechs universally acknowledged as being lesser could benefit.

Unlocking them needs to happen. The JJ nerfs to curb poptarting are also why the 'mechs with hardlocked JJs seem to be often in the running for the worst 'mechs--give these guys adjustments to their JJs to make them fly again. Who cares if the Nova and Summoner are allowed to poptart? It will not mean that suddenly everyone will be doing it in every 'mech that can mount JJs and poptarting would be "back".

There are no clan mechs with inflated hardpoints at all. They all have exactly the number and type of hardpoints per omnipod that their respective configurations require.
