Name: Ibrahim ibn Hakim ibn Kahlid Odessa
Date of Birth (Age): December 7th, 3003 (26)
Call sign: Slugger
Current Mech: DRG-2Y Dragon Yorioshi
House/Unit Affiliation: Azami (Draconis Combine)
Physical Appearance: Ibrahim is decidedly average in height (6'1") and has a solid build; the result of life long interest in the 'sweet science' of boxing. He sports a wide full beard with rounded bottom (in the style of Garibaldi) and keeps his head clean-shaven. Decedent from a long line of Azami wanderers, Ibrahim's skin is black and darkened by a life spent under the sun.
The Azami pilot is known throughout the unit as a notorious fan of teashade sunglasses and it is rare to see him without a pair shielding his eyes from all forms of light. Whenever possible Ibrahim is a most formal dresser and he maintains an extensive wardrobe of custom tailored clothing.
Open background: Ibrahim was born on the planet of Algedi V, in the Dieron Military District of the Draconis Combine. His mother was an environmental engineer employed by Cairo Enterprises and his father was a civil servant, working in the diplomatic field as a liaison between the Azami and the Draconis Combine. While close to both his mother and father, the busy careers of both his parents meant that Ibrahim spent most of his adolescence under the watchful eye of his grandfather, Mbaye. The stories of the elderly man, a grizzled veteran of the Third Succession War and MechWarrior of some renown, left their mark on the young man and shaped his later decisions.
Following his compulsory education, Ibrahim attended the Dieron District Gymnasium; to the great dismay of his parents who had hoped that the young man would pursue a more technical and profitable vocation. A motivated student, Ibrahim received high marks from his instructors both in the classroom and during simulator training. However, an accident during a live-fire training exercise almost resulted in his dismissal from the academy and it was only with the support of one of his instructors that Ibrahim was allowed to finish his training.
Nonetheless, despite this black mark on his record, Ibrahim graduated from the Dieron District Gymnasium among the top of his class and was accorded the honor of being one of the few Azami pilots to serve outside of the Arkab Legions in the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery (DCMS). Assigned to the 24th Dieron Regulars, the so called Collectors of Heads, Ibrahim was trained as a heavy mech pilot. Along with the rest of the unit, Ibrahim participated in the low intensity warfare of the waning years of the Third Succession War and gained particular experience fighting against the military forces of the Federated Suns.
Like most Azami Ibrahim was proud of his service to the Draconis Combine, but he never saw himself as a true “Drac” and throughout his military career he was noted by his commanding officer to be a talented but ill disciplined pilot. A particular sore spot for Ibrahim was the Bushido warrior code so beloved and espoused by the Draconis Combine officers.
Eventually, growing weary of the politics of the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery, Ibrahim sought a discharge from the DCM and accepted a position as a consultant with Luthian Armor Works. However, despite the increase in pay, Ibrahim found civilian life did not suit him well and after only a month of “honest work” Ibrahim decided to pursue a career as a mercenary instead. With the help of one of his former commanding officers, Tai-sho Simlin Toshirov, the young Azami pilot was brought into contact with Mercenary Liaison, Precentor Erica Whittcomb and found his way onto mercenary market in record time.
In a stroke of dubious luck, Ibrahim was hired by Reinhard Leclerc of the New Musketeers soon after. Impressed with Ibrahim’s experience and skill, Leclerc placed Ibrahim in the lance commanded by his daughter (Sandra Vong- Leclarc), with the privately spoken order that he was to act as a bodyguard of sorts for the rising star of the Muskateers. Without a mech of his own, Ibrahim was given a Dragon built for brawling retained by the unit. The fast, close range style of fighting favored by Ibrahim matched well with this heavily customized mech and he came to be a successful pilot with the New Musketeers.
All good things must come to an end however and the battle at Lahti saw the Musketeers decimated and left Ibrahim with a damaged mech and an even more bruised ego. An increasingly patient man, much to his own surprise, Ibrahim elected to remain with the New Musketeers under their new leadership, feeling that he owed Gustave Carpeaux at least an honest chance to reform the unit.
Deep Background: In his own mind, Ibrahim bears two marks of great shame. The first, his maiming of a classmate during his time at the Dieron District Gymnasium. The second, his failure to keep Sandra Leclarc alive.
His call sign came a mere month into his contract with the New Muskateers, following a brutal slugging match that saw Ibrahim in his Dragon square off against an unnamed pirate in an Orion. Despite the fifteen ton disadvantage, Ibrahim proved to be the better pilot and the heavily damaged Orion, sans pilot, netted him a sizable salvage bonus and the eponymous nickname of "Slugger."
Edit: I am Julmust Jaeger (before someone accuses me of stealing from myself).
