Of the Assault Mechs (excluding the DW of course)
The question for today, Assault pilots if your alone and a light (fire starter let’s say) finds you
Do you say mmmmm meat or do you say oh crap?

But when I'm in my Jager, lights are dead meat.

That being said, if I get unlucky with my spawns and the entire light lance swarms me while the rest of my team completely ignore me and use me as a scape goat so they can get away, then yes.

Unless he happens to be in a particularly bad position (or outnumbered), light mechs are not a particular issue in an assault mech. However, he feels that this is the case in most mechs, i.e. being attacked in a bad position and having bad numerical disadvantage is never good.
Given the OP's example, of one Firestarter, then no, easy kill in almost every case. Sure, the FS might get some nice shots in, but it doesn't take many decent hits to remove them as a threat (if not outright kill them).
A good or great Assault pilot will make absolute mince meat out of even some of the best Light mech pilots (which is why you rarely see light mechs piloting overly aggressively in serious matches or when good teams/players are playing...because they will get exploded in record time with every imaginable weapon).

See if you said 'Lights' that would be one story, but mono et mono they can be easy to deal with, direwolfs tend to have the most trouble just cause they are so cumbersome and slow to turn, probably closely followed by stalkers then warhawks.
Generally though, as long as you keep your back out of reach you will last longer. Some notable mentions;
1. Hugiin and Oxide splatmechs; your rear armors worst nightmare, srm alpha's are nasty and can dish out a lot of damage in a short time - perfect for lights.
2. 3L Snipers - My favorite light to run, these mechs are the games biggest pest. You need to keep turning your body to ensure you do not take sustained damage, particularly in vulnerable spots. Be patient - they have to peek to see you so take advantage of that.

Although, this isn't something you argued, what class of mech doesn't the same rule apply to though?
If you are in an light/medium/heavy/assault mech and somehow get jumped by two or more mediums, heavies, or even assaults, you will be forced to pull some tricky shots and show some solid piloting to have a chance.

But not the 2xAC20 king crab...
Hit the leg and side torso and the light is done.. hit anywhere else and you still do significant damage

At best you have 20 tons distracting 100 for a min.

That sounds like a GREAT deal for the light pilot.
Distract a Direwolf for a whole minute with a locust. That's 100 tons of assets not being focused at the majority of the enemy team for 60 seconds.
In that time, an assault hunting light could have cored you out.
And even if they both end up maimed after the fight, it's at most 55 tons of equipment traded for 100.

Only technically.
I only fear them if there's more than 1, and really even then only if there's more than 1 and I don't have an AC/20 or a pack of pulse lasers.
My Misery thinks it's cute when they show up, because AC/20 solves problems, unless it's one of the super rare light pilots that don't just circle and can actually stick behind a low-maneuverability assault.
