I saw a pc pre built won't name manufacturer

Intel i7
gtx770 16gb ram

so I bought it arrived and couldn't fin a boot device, when I switched it on, looked in bios all seemed ok, sent snotty email to support and while checking up on specs notcied the CPS was 100 watts short for advertised graphics until so add it to the snotty letter.

pulled back off to find if anything elsewas wrong, idot engineer hadn't connected the hd correctly, re fitted it, got the thing going and noticed the GFX card was not a 770 but a GTX970, which falls into the 500watts range and is the lower limit for the power pack.

so i'm now stuck in the enviable position of feeling smug that I have a better card, annoyed at the shoddy construction, and while my orginal complaints are not valid, but its damn noisy and poorly put together.

Bummer, I avoid prebuilt machines for this reason. Well that and I rather enjoy assembly.

Are you just going to see if they will swap out power supplies or what's your goal?

This, Don't Trust Others, Trust Yourself. if you build your own, then at least you know how it's built and what's going into it.

OR if you don't want to mess with it, trust a builder that knows wtf they are doing and cares about their builds.

A lost character trait on the latest generations.

The OP is the very reason why anybody who can pay attention to youtube videos and look at the 'specs' tab on any Newegg product should be building their own machine.

+1 to building your own, just did mine about 2 months ago was intimidated as hell, but with the powers of youtube at my fingertips the help from pcpartpicker forums and here, it was probably easier then putting together my giant spaceport lego set when i was a kid ......... and the plus side you get an extremely powerful machine for less then the cost of mediocre pre built....

hope your PSU is semi decent btw and im jealous of your 970!!
