Yes, asking you, la personas, to tell me hows you push the buttons :)

Me?

I usually go in with ballastics, and energy if I can, lrms seem to hate me if I use them in pairs or quads, srms and streaks too.

On my Summoner (oh yes those new quirks help ALOT), I run 2 large pulse, 2 mediums, lrm 15, ton and a half for ammo, and 2 double heat sinks.

The pulse and laser have a very similar duration, thus making it easy to shoot once without having to wait for the other to finish, thus I can jump up on blue ember and shoot without a problem. Plus the lrm 15 allows me to hit targets when I need that extra damage ;)

Now what about you, how and what do you use on your mech?

Dakka for the win. After that it is a smattering of what ever other hard points the mech has. I have found that I personally do better and more consistent damage and kills with Ballistics. For some reason I seem to spend too much face time trying to run a laser build. Just need more practice I guess.

SRM are good and provide a good punch as well when up close and personal. But going AC's and SRMs on a mech, like say the Wolverine, means that about 3/4 of the way through a match, I am near out of ammo. So having a couple laser for backup weapons, never a bad idea.

I VERY rarely run LRMs, but I might add them back to a couple Assault mechs.

Depends on the chassis...

Locusts: Hit and fade, be as irritating as possible. LCT-1E LCT-1V PIRATES' BANE

Vindicators: support the main push, go after stragglers. PPC's and lasers. Not going to share these ones :)

Centurions: Be in the main push, tank damage as I can. Big canon and lasers

Dragons: Hit and Fade, find a good spot to hammer with the AC's for a couple of shots, then run like hell to the next spot. canon and laser

Awesomes: Ranged support of the main push. PPC and missiles

Battlemasters: waist deep in the main push. Pulse lasers like I'm a disco-ball.

With a decent engine installed and somewhat frontloaded armor. May or may not have shield arms/sides, depending on the exact robbit in question.

Sometimes whoosh or dakka might get used in conjunction with the pewpew and wub, but pewpew and wub are always used. ALWAYS. Never not used.

Hey Derek, been running Summoner to its quirks. Try erppc RA, lbx10 LA & srm4 with PPC/lbx10 cool down modules. Great burst damage with fast recycle time. Did same build on Gargoyle.

Large alpha pulse is my game. Go in hot and heavy with two full alphas on group 1 (depending on mech), chain fire until target falls on group two. Rinse repeat.

Have three mechs set up this way. Out of 8.

Always try to keep a Mech near stock - that means multiple weapon groups - heck i even recognized that i perform really really bad in Mechs using less than 4 weapon groups

I prefer a mix of missiles, ballistic and energy weapons - although i didn't get a used to the Orions. ;)

I have a heart for the inferior Mechs.

'cause when you beat a "better" mech, it feels so much better.

I am thinking that ... either you are hired by PGI as a kind of forum animator or you're pretty bored all day and crate corresponding threads all day.

Usually start with a main feature weapon, then fill in with back ups.
Example;
on the hunchback 4G, the AC20 being the main weapon and back upped with medium lasers.
my trebuchet LG has SRMs as primary weapon with medium pulse for pinpoint damage.
the lurmcrab has twin ALRM20, with large lasers and 6 machine gun to fill the gap.

Try this for a overall good build:
Summoner C arm, summoner d arm, summoner d left torso and summoner prime left torso. 3 medium lasers, large laser, srm 4 with a ton of ammo, one dhs, and a ultra 5 with 3 tons. I'll post a smurfy for you in a bit to show you and a video.

Somewhat? Almost everything frontloaded. Largest engine you can feasibly put in.

After that? LET ME WUB YOU!

Normally FF isn't an issue, in fact last night was the only **** I've ran into in months, purposely blowing off allies rear torsi with Dual Gauss, then the very next round trying to leg me at the spawn...he was put down.

By "somewhat" frontloaded I mean something to this effect:

Lights: 4-5 rear armor
Mediums: Depending on agility, 5-8 rear armor (7-8 for mechs like the Shad who have a small twist radius)
Heavies: ~8 most of the time, less if using bad hitbox mechs like the Mad Dawg
Assaults: About 8-10, depending on agility (i.e. 8 for Wubhawk, prolly 10 for less agile things like Dire Whales)

Get the CLPL cooldown module class 2, it will sync your MLs and CLPLs fire and recharge time for up to 10 shots in a row. Then they will begin to desync, not that you coud fire them 10 tmes in a row.

As for my playstyle, fast and furious, non meta humping goodness. Ice Weasle =LIFE, XL390 Treb = LIFE, 171KPH Commando =

WubShee has ~6 rear armour, Nova has 1(due to being absolutely gigantic everywhere), most tend to be around the 7 mark.

Maybe more before doubled basics, where you can't turn fast enough.

For Ryokens leap:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8c08d5339a814b6

Used to Run hot, but with new quirks should be easier on one if you have cool shots too.
Also Old video here, WAY back before wave II :P

I ran 2 tons of ammo for srm 4 in video but found that 1 ton will suffice.

Thrustmaster T16000.m joystick. Very accurate, but the centering spring is too strong so you open it up and zip-tie two coils of the spring together. (pretty easy, but at your own risk since this voids the warranty) This shortens the spring and thus lowers the strength to perfect. The stick uses magnetic sensors to track stick movement on a 16000x16000 grid, so similar accuracy to a Mouse, but you control the basic movement of the mech with one hand. Never had a joystick this good before.

I build my mechs to run hot and then hit and fade to keep the mech running. Never use PGI's pseudo Gauss Rifle, instead I pair an AC10 to a PPC for a 600 meter AC20. My own Heavy Gauss Rifle in 3050 no less B). Mechlab has the answer usually.

Winning is knowing when to press and when to re-position. Anytime you can go 1v1, you do.

Here is a pic of the joystick spring surgery if you like the joystick...

Lately I've been playing Ravens, which means big fat lasers on the 3L and 2X, and SRMs on my Hugnin.

Lots of opportunistic poking from the flanks, running in and shooting people in the back, and occasionally charging straight at assault mechs screaming if they're close enough to dead.
