I want melee combat in this game so I can have a hatchetman, Axeman and Beserker.

Dude, you have 2 other topics the same thing, get rid of the other 2.

And no melee. It's already been discussed and there's never been melee in ANY of the mechwarrior games

I wouldn't mind melee if it was done well and didn't result in a troll-bashing crapfest. I don't want to see "press F to smash face" just tacked on. Plus, no stun-locks. I know how I would abuse the system if it were lazily implemented with stun-lock and I really don't want to see that added to this game.

Its pretty bad when lights can pin you in place and you can't fight them back because they're lower than your guns.

Ooo-- ooo--- I have a system for this, as well as a comic!

System:

Punching

Can punch once per arm (2)
Cannot punch from a limb that had shot any weapons within 4 seconds
Slows the mech down 25%
Cannot use arm based weapons for 5 seconds after punch
Takes 10 seconds to be usable oncemore


Kicking

Slows mech down by 80% while kicking.
All torso bound weapons are unstable (a la jumpjet shooting) from when the kick is initiated to 4 seconds after the kick either hits its mark or misses
On miss, small chance of falling
Can fall mechs 15 tons higher or any amount lower. Chance of this is scaled on tonnage difference.
Cannot kick for 12 seconds after attempted.

Someone suggested this too as an addendum:

Forgive me but the first thing that comes into my head when I saw that is "SENPAI! BAKA! BAKA!...."

There should really be a pinned topic that explains and catalogs previous threads for EMC, LRMS, and melee.

Melee is a thing that PGI wants to put in.

However, it's been listed (by them) on the 'eventually if we have the time/manpower' update set, along with things like destructible terrain. Don't expect this to happen anytime soon or Soon™.

Or two shields, I won't complain either way. I guess one of each would also be acceptable.

Firstly, that's a terrible reason to turn down melee in the future. With an attitude like that, humanity would never have built trains or used penicillin to stop people from dying horribly.

Secondly, previous 'MechWarrior games have not had melee because it was not known to be technologically feasible at the time. Gaming over the last decade or so has shown that this sort of thing can be done effectively, so that reason is out.

Thirdly, PGI has already mentioned they want to add melee to this game, eventually maybe. So while you can keep telling people it's been discussed and is never going to happen, that's pretty clearly a lie - or perhaps just ignorance. It's coming, and when it comes, you won't have enough ERLLs to stop it. =3

depending how they inplement it (be carfull what you ask for :P ) i would love to have melee in the game,
noting says "not today!" better then punching the red ct TBR KO.
there should also be a c-bill bonus for a melee kill. (melee damage being somwhere between 1 and 2 per 10t weight of your mech, and during a punch ore kick your croshairs for the other weapons is not centerd but moves along with the animation (you now what i mean) total melee attack duration between 2 -5 s depending on the size of your mech, and ofc heavy screen shake for the mech that gets hit ... dreaming on ...)

I would love to be able to kick a knee hugging light. Or have a strike attack with my arms if I am out of weapons/ammo. Maybe even have hand actuators do something. (More damage if you have full actuators).

Maybe someday....

Uh? Why didn't they put in tanks and jets and infantry and everything else that's in Battletech? I can assure you, those people don't use aolbonics when they make a decision.
