Apparently The Solution To "too Much Ecm" Is...

Sigh. I don't hate ECM. But when it becomes a staple, it's a bit overblown.

The IS players are begging for the ECM variant of the Black Knight, while Clan players are begging for the ECM variant of the Dire Wolf. I fear the ECM addiction is really getting out of control.

Screw the ECM direwolf.
I want the ECM gargoyle... only clan assault to have ECM if added- would be the best thing that can happen for the balance of clan assaults.

Yes Dire already has too much and gargoyle can use a little help only if there will be a ecm assault on clan side.

Arctic Cheetah and Shadowcat is just few of the remaining pool of mechs that can be added for the clans that are front line omnimechs. However ECM griffin was an odd choice... Already enough griffins... stupid quirks applied as well... etc.... it would be nice if the other griffys got LRm quirks but those one but meh....
Maybe now is a good time to remove ecm from mechs who didn't have them... commando, cicada... atlas... etc... but that could be problematic.

Would ruin the point of taking the executioner a little bit eh?

eh, direwolf doesn't need to much... it's just all the other clan assaults got to less... gargoyle and warhawk got nothing running for them .... executioner doesn't have much either...

ECM doesn't stop me from shooting anything... then again I use Lasers, AC20 and SRMs...

I don't particularly need ECM to be effective, but if I have the option to use it without completely taking away my options for making a decent build ( say hello Mist Lynx ) I'd be stupid not to. Speaking of ECM, I'd love to see the Awesome 9Q in game.

Nope. The truth is, only a small fraction of mechs in this game have ECM, and it makes no sense to restrict it to the AS7-DDC, CDA-3M, RVN-3L and 4-5 others just because it's too powerful.
Just balance the damned thing.

It stops you from finding out exactly what the enemy mech's loadout is and where the armor is the weakest, and then share that info with your teammates. Which is far, far more important than mere LRM deterrent.

I prefer the option of having a keyboard with a functional "J" key.
If that is not an option, the next best thing! Drop 1.5t of ammo and equip BAP.
Look at that, I just nullified ECM!
If you play in Solo queue, why should anyone expect teamwork/role warfare/support? That is not part of the solo queue experience. If people want to work as a team, rely on each other, have more to this game then point and shoot, then you must going a Unit or at least a regular Group.
This is easily solved by removing oneself from kiddie pool filled with urine.

BAP does not nullify ECM until the mech gets to 240 meter range. And only one ECM at a time. Beyond 240 meters, BAP gets nullified by ECM.
Also, the Solo-Q experience must be taken to account since it is where 85% of the playerbase is, and where all the new Steam horde will start with.

PGI is trying, but they are doing it in a very wrong way. Simple range reduction is totally a cop out.

As far as I've been able to tell, BAP does jack-all against ECM. BAP only gives proper bonuses against ECM after the ECM mech has either been hit by a PPC, or another mech is running their ECM in Counter Mode against the first mechs ECM Disrupt Mode.
The only thing the range-reduction to ECM will do is encourage more people to run ECM mechs, and then we're right back to square one.

Actually yes. During one of the LRM apocalypses there were unskilled mech builders crying about AMS eating entire missile salvos on them.

BAP enables you to counter a single ECM point to acquire locks. If there is more than one ECM in the vicinity you are screwed.

What in their oft maligned history led you to believe that they would EVER do an adjustment that made any sort of logical sense and that wasn't a total cop out?
(The only exception I can think of is the HSR fixes which in turn have gone awry lately adding to stuck in one place LOL syndrome on occasion)
