I hear a lot of excuses in this post.

I'd suggest you learn how and why people are successful before making incorrect blanket statements.

I can understand boredom... but I don't understand the unwillingness to adapt and play better.

You should already know how I operate and how well I perform in my games sense you were in my unit. There are plenty enough people around here that know me and have seen me play better or adapt.

It's because I think I'm being cheated. There's no adapting vs cheating unless you cheat with them which is unlikely sense clans are not 250 tons too. I would be fine if the tonnages were still 240 tons vs 240 tons. I think I'm just going to try to make an effort to only fight same technology battles in CW because the tonnage differences wont be there. Sense CSJ doesn't attack other clans that much I'll likely have to wait tell then or when my unit joins the IS side. So pretty much CW is going to be over for me until I can fight even tonnage battles. Except for loot like mech bay's and rewards. I must have all the C bills so I'm not done yet. :P

Not sure how you got that out of us saying we are BORED TO DEATH beating Kuritans.

We took planets every day, multiples very often in the high pop for us in CW. Then we GOT BORED!

I dont understand how you can take that and turn it into us neededing to adpat or something?

We were kicking ass and the constant nerfs and talk fo nerfs and people constantly yelling P2w and nerf clans etc just get ******* old. Im done with it im done with hearing the crying im done with seeing a company pander to 2000 40 yr old babies.

Im done, PGI is running CW into the gutter by making it NOT FUN to play in CLAN MECHS. They are doing this all on their own and this is sqaurly at their feet. Playing clan mechs HAS TO BE FUN or no one will bother at all. IS mech are the only FUN mechs in the game right now. Which is why I am NOT PLAYING CW because i cant use IS MECHS IN CW. and again, where you got the idea that we Jags need to "adapt and overcome" outta we are bored again is very strange to me.

While not specific to you or anyone in particular, there were people that approached the game this way. Frankly, I wasn't able to do anything about it. My hands were tied so to speak. So, it is what it is.

I don't actually use the tonnage bonus, mostly due to the inconvenience, so I don't bother. My current dropdeck runs "undertonned", but only by 5 tons (235 tons used for both IS and Clans).

If you don't use the advantages provided to you (and I don't mean that IS tonnage bonus vs Clans, I'm talking about using Clan mechs properly/optimally), then you better be arguing to fix the bad Clan mechs... because there's a whole lot of them.

Well, there was a time where CSJ had the opportunity to build a side route into Steiner space... through whatever remained in FRR territory. That was not exercised... if anything the focus was just concentrating on Kurita space.

While that seems good from tactical point of view (why fight multiple fronts when you don't have to), it doesn't increase interest in the faction.

That in part got me bored out of my skull in CSJ. When I logged in, it was the "only attackable planet" (which was pretty much Kurita) was already taken... so there was no point into doing CW for the night.

While I'm not saying Clans should attack their neighbors (IS does this all the time, because they have no other option, like Davion, Marik, or Liao), but the only way to attract Mercs has always been to have more options available on the table. Those opportunities were squandered (if not altered by the 1% that seem to have all the C-bills required to make this happen). So.. it could be argued you made your bed, and now you're sleeping in it.

It is what it is though.

I'm not saying all Smoke Jaguar players and units... just some (although PUGs complain all the time on both sides, so we can kinda safely ignore them). Though I have been running IS mechs, I still have plenty of fun running Clan Mechs. Maybe it should be an idea to take a break and play the other side for a bit (those non-permanent contracts don't seem so silly right?) although I'd like to see the whole Merc thing restructured (like having the option to drop as IS or Clan as necessary, with the occasional paid contracts for an extended duration).

Even last night, there was like literally dead in CW activity on all sides post-event. CW is honestly not that healthy as it should be, and w/o people telling PGI to make it better (ideally, while offering some ideas).. we're just going to continue this same path indefinitely. There is no fun in ghost drops.. or people not interested in playing. It's up to PGI to fix CW, but letting in linger the way it is.. it would be almost like giving PGI an excuse to say "you got your CW, and you didn't like it, so we'll can it."

It's just sad.

I agree.
I have a lot to say but what's the point because it's all been said a thousand times over and PGI simply just does not listen very well, PGI does what they want for who they want.
Anyway at this point they should can it, there are people in my unit who are already putting in for their Wave 3 refunds. I imagine it is happening in other units as well. Simply put; it seems PGI cannot be trusted for another 120 bucks.
See you in the pub drops.

Regards,
Rev

In your other post the second sentence had the word "you" in it. In your words below "you" shows up again while mostly repeating the same thing from the last post. Maybe avoiding the word "you" would be a good idea?

It doesn't matter what game a player goes to they still have deal with player's that are not adapting or bettering their play. This can be the player's choice but also it can be the game developers fault. There's no such thing as a perfect game or perfect person. Player's just have to get along with each other. If they talk to each other they can come to an agreement on what their going to do together. If they don't, it's up to them to decide what to do from there. Controlling what they do is not an option when they don't agree. Same for the developer's.

That inconvenience is going away for Inner Sphere because it was inconvenient to change drop decks when playing against Clan and Inner Sphere.

I agree with you on not using the advantages. I like having an advantage that I devote time to finding it. I've read the playing to win book.

My first post in this thread wasn't about not using the advantages. It had how using the advantages lead to less diversity in it. It lead to and summarized in how boring it was for me.

Now this is where the tonnage debate comes in.

If I ever join the IS side, I wont rely on a 10 ton increase in drop deck tonnage. I like the 240 ton drop deck's because it's fair for the under tonned mechs in each weight class. No matter on the IS side or the Clan side. Higher tons in this game = more firepower and hit points. A slight speed increase doesn't fix that advantage. So fixing it by tonnage restrictions limits the amount of firepower and armor each player can take. Making your 70 ton heavy as viable as a 75 ton heavy because your next mech will have the extra 5 tons to use. 240 is the best tonnage limit for CW because it allows player's to have 2 higher tonned mechs with two lower tonned mechs. Giving a choice between which mechs they want to be the most powerful in or moderately powerful to pass it on to another mech of their choosing.

Using tonnage to fix balance between clan's and IS can hurt the balance in public que where there isn't any tonnage limit and CW. If clans' are post to be one to one balanced vs IS in public matches, a 75 ton IS heavy should be able to reach the same performance as another 75 ton Clan heavy. If you balance on CW stats that has the added extra 10 tons into the IS, the stats will get mest up like there's a 85 tonner fighting against that 75 ton clan mech. If you transfer the CW stats to the public matches in balance passes it would mess it up by translating it into either 65 ton vs 75 tons or 85tons vs 75 tons.

That 10 extra tons is a crutch that I don't want to be caught leaning on when the Devs decide it should be taken away.

What's really making clans over powered is heat scale(Ghost Heat) but in only alpha strikes. The same Heat scale(ghost heat) IS weapon limits were transferred over to the clans. This is wrong to do because 6 IS medium laser damage of 30 does not = 6 clan ER medium laser damage of 42. Ghost heat or heat scale needs to be re-adjusted to balance these alpha strike's out. It will power creep up if IS heat scale(Ghost Heat) is buffed to have more weapons fire at a time causing lower tonned mechs to suffer like the locust that's dieing in one shot from the 35 damage front loaded Pin point damage that the IS has with it's heat scale(Ghost Heat) weapon limit's. So the Clan's need to be nerfed in terms of heat scale(Ghost Heat) to get them closer to the damage the IS is allowed to do with heat scale(Ghost Heat).

Sadly, it now looks like having the tonnage change reverted is not going to happen sense PGI is making it normal for the 250 ton drop deck to be used vs other Inner sphere and not just against the clans. I'm going to have to break what I've said to use that extra tonnage when I join the IS side in order to play to win.

The higher damage weapons and lower tonned weapons is the main reason why clan mechs seem or are overpowered to players. Clan mechs dont have a hit point advantage which is another reason why it doesn't make sense to increase the Inner sphere's tonnage.

The heat scale(ghost heat) nerf is one of my idea's in lowering the damage the clans do.

The next idea is using symmetry which was partially mentioned in my first post in this thread. Symmetry in balancing games is the easiest option because it makes it all the same as each other. This doesn't mean it can't have other variables like increased range at the cost of doing more heat though. For example the Inner sphere Large laser and ER large laser have the same tonnage and damage but they have different ranges, heat and duration. If symmetry was used it would make all the clan er laser's, and clan ERPPC's do the same damage as their Inner Sphere counter parts. Possible more symmetry would be applied to the other clan weapons.

The third Idea is using tonnage to help dictate the stats of what a weapon can do. So If the Clan ER large laser is lower tonned than the Inner Sphere ER large laser it would cause the clan version to do a lower amount of damage than it but when a laser is lower tonnage in MWO it will have a decrease in duration, Heat, cool down, and range. That follows the pattern of the different tonnage laser's.
