How about we start with allowing I.S. Mechs to mount both SHS's and DHS's at the same time. That way I can buy DHS's and still get that "COOL" water based HS Cooling effect they talk about in the game tips.

It is pretty hard to get the "submerged" SHS water based Bonus when the "totally required DHS's" take up 3 slots each. ;)

P.S. Mixed Tech would be the utter DOOM of MWO. So No thanks.

If I were allowed to salvage Clan technology and mount it on my Inner Sphere mechs, cFF armor would be WAY down the list. Gimme one of those sweet clan XL engines, or some smaller DHS, or a cERML....

I could live with that - as long as Clans get exchangeable engines and IS-Weapons (ACs, Lasers with much shorter burn duration and beeing much cooler) in return

Fine as long as IS get exchangable hard points like clans. And by all means exchange the weapons to. Half weight missiles and 1 slot CERLL would be great. Lets exchange heat sinks to. You get the IS 3 slot heat sinks and IS mechs can get the 2 slot heat sinks and Inner Sphere can finally put heat sinks in the legs. Happy day!

I see your point. On second thought if you increase the max potential armor point values with FF armor, but then have to use more tonnage to actually get that advantage, you null out your weight savings. A 15% damage reduction quirk would do the same, but also give you a ton or two to use for other things, which is a bigger buff than just upping the armor point limit.

Right now I think FF armor either needs a lower space penalty, or like you said a higher armor value.

Trading your weight savings for increased armor is enough of a buff because that's more survivability than usual, making Ferro Fibrous armor reduce damage and tonnage would be way too powerful. Aside from that, you could still benefit from some weight savings by not increasing armor further on some components such as arms & legs, though obviously the weight savings wouldn't be as good as Endo Steel which is fine since that's balanced.

if you ever read the technical manual for battletech you would realize a mech chassi is just a mounting system for all the armor and weapons so it should be able with some modification be able to have anything it wants on it. in all mechwarrior games untill mechwarrior 4 this was allowed 6 erppc etc was never a big issue because armor was half the mwo values and instant death happens more frequently with even lower alphas. but the game was still quite fun and usually multiplayer had re spawns so a instant death didn't automatically lose the match.

Hans, what kind of mushrooms are you on and where can I find some?

Innersphere doesn't need Clan FF.
  • Power creep
  • Lore-breaking (Innersphere hasn't utilised Clan tech at this point in the timeline, 3050-3052)
  • Doesn't make sense. (armour is fitted to the mechs. This means IS would have to reverse-engineer the armour, they couldn't just salvage it)
  • Confusing to new players ("why can my mech has clan armour but not weapons or structure? wtf is this shjt?")
  • Innersphere doesn't need the extra buff, they're balanced reasonably fine as it is.
It's called Laser-Reflective Armour and it wasn't used until 3060's... by the Clans. It remained experimental tech until Jihad-era, and MWO will never... ever... incorporate anything from Jihad era.

Not to mention the houses, FedCom, Draconis Combine and a few others re more or less taking that salvage from mercs at gun-point... And if a House unit beat a clan unit, well that salvage went right to R&D of the House.... so not really something we line troops or mercs would be seeing....

well, depends on if your last name is Davion; Kurita, Steiner...oh, would you look at that? ;)

LOL@ claims of clock consistency in MWO. I guess the year 3050 lasted about 60 months
