So as an April fools day joke this come out:

So the question is why not?

This could use 100% reusable assets, just low poly versions, and needs some scripting work and a working AI, that could be used as PvE elements for MWO.

There is the finance part of it that is a question, if they are all working 100% on MWO and the current pace is the best they could do then they might need more people for something like this so what would be the easiest way for PGI to recruit the manpower for this and to pay them?

Should they do a kickstarter like crowd funder event, try outsourcing the work?

Well last year the Urbanmech was a joke and it's thread never died... a repeat performance is in order? :) .

They need to implement Solaris (I hear some TT guys hate on Solaris - I think it's a bad business decision not to). Problem is they can't pull away from making mechs (the real $$ maker). I agree some sort of crowd funding/pledging system to put fire under there asses is needed. Even if it's $25,000 to outsource the work. This game severely needs it.

As it stands without any fire under ass ($) we won't see it for another 1-2 years. By then half the player base will have vanished.

I wouldn't want to see this draw away from the efforts they have going this year. Post-steam... maybe. Not keen on the idea myself, but I could see the draw for some players.

While I agree that the development needs to be on improving the game these new features would have the most impact for new players ( pve elements ) as there difficulty is easily changed , and so new players would be able to contribute by shooting at tanks and vtols instead of getting face melted by veteran players, wich they would still get, but after doing some damage to NPCs, and like I stated we'r looking into what kind of outsorcing or financing could be available to PGI so that work on this could be done in paralel to MWO development.

If PGI had done a kickstarter for a MechCommander Online version similar to what you see in the video.... instead of doing a kickstarter for transverse... they would be doing this right now.

It can't be an April Fools joke. It's using George Ledoux to do the voice work for Duncan Fisher! That screams "legit" in my book.

What TT guys hate on solaris?

The only hate we levy at the idea is that PGI is doing it, so it wont be anything like Solaris.

What some of us hate on, is the Solaris 7 RULES, which are an extrapolation of the Btech rules, but 'sped up' to make arena combat 'more interesting'. I really dont care that much for the rules, but that has no bearing on a Pgi made Solaris.

Our worry is that itll just be a bunch of 2 on 2s and 1 on 1s for roughly the same cbills as the other queues, with a leaderboard.

Instead of managing a stable, or managing costs, or fighting for titles, or on backworld arenas to small crowds to build noteriety and fame.

Itll come down to one mech with the highest alpha and dps, always winning, and everyone using that mech, padding their stats on newbs, and maybe a reward tree for some cups of pop.

I would rather see more battletech elements first. Like tanks and Vtols, artillery that makes sense, and objectives beyond 'push lane, shoot target.'

George Ledoux will do ten hours of voice work if you buy him a hot dog and a diet coke.

Which sounds like an insult, but it's actually a huge compliment. This guy loves his job and is more than happy to help his fans. I have lots of respect for that guy.

So is it possible to have some more influential people draw out this point during the next townhall after the important questions?

I think Solaris should be a big goal for PGI to implement. A lot of the complaints that most players have coming into MWO with no prior Battletech or Mechwarrior experience could be alleviated by having a FFA battle area option*. I feel like new player retention would go up significantly because it's a fun simple mode without all the complications of team dynamics.

*Seriously, isn't one of the biggest complaints about MWO that there aren't enough game modes? I feel like having a Solaris Beta by the time of Steam release could be a huge boon. And yes, this means pushing back Steam release. Because yes, MWO is not even CLOSE to being ready for Steam. No closer now than it was in late 2013.

It's okay, it went toward hot dogs and diet coke. All is right in the world. =D

More or less this...

It would come down to Dire Wolves or Timber Wolves.... basically what ever is on-top for that weight class, in terms of hitting power, would be king.... Kind of like what we have now, just team based...
