Now I kind of wish I'd picked Kenny Powers as my picture. Most people looking through this thread just thought I picked some poorly dressed Russian with a cat and a decorative plastic trout in his living room.

This thread gave me an idea, I got to wondering if we could have a tweak to profile pics (and I'd be fine if could only choose from unchanging presets).

So for example, if I could choose the DoomGuy, I'd also like to keep Clan Wolf, but as a selectable badge, like this (otherwise it would be a preset pilot image that we could choose from):

And with presets it should be simple, being an image of say slightly different neurohelmets (one for each faction at least).

It was Bryan Ekman's CW preview presentation. Is that the 'out of Beta' presentation? Anyway, yeah.

I got so excited by this idea (like role warfare) that I almost peed my pants. And of course, when I realized they replaced this idea with a totally diluted and meaningless version (as they did with role warfare), I was unbelievably disappointed.

Anyway. Sorry for derailing the thread. Let's not bring the tone down.

There was no announcement. Nor was there ever an announcement that they'd reject role warfare either, as far as I know. In regards to role warfare, I think Russ just casually mentioned in a Town Hall meeting that we already had it, due to different mechs and modules. They never really said that they would get rid of the roles with specific skill trees, for example.

In regards to CW, they basically just announced the way CW works currently, which means we're all just some sort of hybrid between loyalists, mercenaries and lone wolves. There's no separate "life" or game experience, you just pick a contract and decide whether or not you want to be in a unit with other players. When I say they rejected it, it's just inference on my part. I'm not seeing them work on the stuff they talked about, I don't see any real difference between what they initially described as three different lives. And their tone seems to be that they're comfortable with how this part of the game works. A while back, they talked about how players could join different Loyalist units, like the Wolf's Dragoons. The reason you can't name your unit "Wolf's Dragoons" for example, is because PGI wanted to reserve those for in-game official faction units. But I don't think I've seen PGI mention that feature since Paul mentioned it in passing in early 2014, I think.

PGI, for all their wonderful work on this game, have a tendency to hype a feature they're planning, then deliver a very basic version of what they talked about (some call it minimally viable product) and then very quietly try to establish the impression that they delivered what they promised.
