I rathet not be able to connect to a cw match if it's gonna be loaded with newbies using trial mechs. just going to be a waste of my time playing it. I go into cw for serious team play which lately has been almost nothing.

OP
New players that are welcomed into the game and community become long term veterans that support the game and help it to grow and develop.
New players that are scorned and made to feel unwelcome uninstall the game, which places the long term viability of MWO at risk.
If we welcome engough new players in to the ranks then ultimately we will have a population that can support better match making in CW.

Limiting or even stopping players from content?
I think the better way is to improve new player experience and the interface to show players that the CW game mode is "hard core" difficulty and tips/tutorials showing them what to expect and what to look for (builds, tactics, etc.).
Add towards user experience. Don't reduce/limit it!
When we get the 4vs4 or "coop vs AI" modes, we will have a lot more new-user friendly CW options also.

If "veterans" are supposed to make new players feel welcome and teach them how to play, let me ask you this....how often do either of you "put in YOUR time" in the solo queue, teaching new players?
I don't mean that as a personal assault, but as someone that only plays in the solo queue....I appreciate CW for a chance to do something with more meaning than "the grind." Personally, I'm sick and tired of trying to teach them for free. They get a "cadet bonus" for their first 25 rounds...why don't I get a "trainer bonus" when I get stuck with them on my team? 2+ years in, you'd think I'd be able to move on from the newbie queue. I guess PGI sees the solo queue as their "new player tutorial."

Making the trials not bad and putting in an actual tutorial would go a long way toward bringing in new players and not making them want to kill themselves.

Well, man, head on over to the "Official MW:O Feedback Site" (aka: Twitter) and let Russ know your idea. I'm pretty sure noone has ever brought up tutorials to them before. Maybe it'll work!
