So with the spring sale I've considering getting my first Clan mech. While I'd love an Hellbringer the Summon is on sale and that makes it more attractive to me, atm.

I've been out of the game for a while and I'm just getting back in, so I'm still getting familiar with how the meta has (d)evolved (not that I've ever given a rat's a55 about meta) and wanted some advice on a build I came up with before I committed.

The idea behind the build is this. I like AC5's and I like Medium lasers. That's it. That's the entire train of thought that went into making this build. I'm not a fan of LRM support, though I've not used clan LRMs aside from trial mechs in training mode, so maybe they're work it for medium range? IDK. I like medium range combat, that's kinda always been my niche.

I have a very similar build to this except Uac 5s are used. for pug drops it doesn't do half bad however for community warefare your gonna probably burn through that ammo too quick.

another variation you could try which I'm running on one of my summoners while I level them up is 4 med lasers and a guass riffle

Thanks for the tips.

I just realized that there is also a Timber Wolf with JJs for sale.... I really want a new heavy. I'm sick of looking at my Jagermech.

You will absolutely love the Timber over the Summoner. General consensus is the Summoner is the least attractive Clan Heavy (notwithstanding those few who seem to love it). Best durability/firepower/versatility.

If you're looking for JJ based builds go with the TBR-S variant with the JJ in the CT and you can work around ST Omnipods without or without JJs. I love my Gauss/Dual PPC Timber but you can run UAC-5s and ER-MLs too.

I might run what you're looking for like this
2x UAC5, 3x ERML, but for all the JJs it's pretty under gunned considering how much you can carry in a Timber.

get a quickdraw. like serious.
far better jumper with IS-zombie-mobility and the short beam durations of IS lasers.
not to forget better hardpoint locations.

also: suckoner is bad, timberwolf doesnt jump that well.

Can I recommend a sort of hybrid of your 2 builds? This is what I use on my Timby to great effect!

All a lot of good advise. I think I'm sold on the Timber Wolf.

The Quickdraw is a little too light for my tastes, though it would allow me to make a fully fleshed out IS drop deck if I bought it.

The QKD is also way cheaper. You could actually get 2 of them for less than one Timberwolf...

the quickdraw isnt light. its highly maneuverable.
whenever i see a lone TBR and i pilot my QKD you can be sure im on his toe's to give it a good amount of slapping.
