Back when JJ's were "unfixed" and poptarting was the meta, the HGN was THE king of the battlefield. It had mobility, great HP's and locations, and the weight to carry almost as much weaponry as an atlas. Alas, the HGN's declined from superiority and now sit in the dusty cobwebbed corners of many players' mechbays.
What made the HGN so good, to me at least, was the 90 ton sweet spot they hit. 90 is the "Goldilocks Zone" of tonnage for an assault and it allowed for the best mechbuilding and variability in loadouts out of any mech.
Any speculation of another 90 tonner in the future? They can give it the most terrible hitboxes and I wouldn't care, as long as it was 90 tons and had a great HP layout.
Aside from not understanding what is so good about 90T to make it a "sweet spot", you can play the HGN right now and just ignore the JJs if you like the loadouts and that weight.
That's really the main thing holding the Highlander back.
It has something of a small engine size, but 325 STD is probably as big as you'd really want to go anyway and going XL you'd not want to go smaller than 375 probably.
The slight buffs it got to accel and top speed (67kph or so with 325) are just enough to be noticeable, nothing huge, but nice.
