From PI's post dated June 2014, I quote:

"“coffer” actions are for future feature support."" Look it up yourself.

Almost a year on, and nothing on the horizon yet. Time for questions.

Plans? Any? Is this just a vapor feature? Any recent napkin notes on the subject from PI?

My unit has built a significant amount in the expectation of use. Seems easy enough (to me) to build a switch that will allow my crew to draw upon those funds, to pay for weapons upgrades, maybe even mechs, or use them to pay for consumables. E.g., under rank management or member management, allow draws at the discretion of the unit commander.

My programming rates are reasonable. At the least, allow transfers from the coffer to unit members at Leader's discretion. THIS IS NOT A ROCKET SCIENCE.

Color me fed up.

It may be like the loyalty medallions they convinced us to pay for. :\ Perhaps they put the feature in without really having an idea of what they want to do with it (kind of like the command console that got 2 years(?) of ... actually yeah. They didn't do anything with the command console until the clans came in.

I'd really like to see a yearly roadmap. I know we're not building up to CW anymore but maybe they could make a time line for when they plan to pull CW out of Beta.

That's all I ever really expected. I'm surprised we can't do this already. It would let us help equip our novice members so they could better enjoy CW and contribute.

I bet it depends on the Steam release date. CW will be declared out of Beta just before the release on steam

Then it'd be great if they had a road map to the steam release.

Just something that shows us there's long term thinking going into the game.

This is one function I am sure they will not implement. Allowing the coffer to be a way of transferring money to other members would be a huge mistake.

To my understanding they just finished hammering out the details of phase 3, so putting them to use might be sooner rather then later?

Wasn't there talk about a union class dropship in game being a purchasable upgrade for units or something? I remember russ saying the art was done during one of the town halls. Thats a good use for coffer funds

What would these dropships do for us that we can't do already? Alternatively, will these dropships become required to do something we already do, removing that capability for groups who don't buy them?

C-Bill funds will never be able to be transferred between players; too susceptible for exploiting and opens the door to farmers and account phishers.

Unit Coffers, as last described, will be used to upgrade defenses and basically other things that will buff the unit in various ways.

I do not think they will be required to use in the future. If I remember they were intended as an upgrade for units that had the funds and wanted them. Though I could be wrong. After all it is hard to focus on russ says the way he meanders around answering questions

I would like to see unit coffers users for bolstering planet defenses for the unit that holds it.

For example, if a unit has their tag on a planet, then I would like to see the option to upgrade the defenses to make it harder for future attackers to take. Things like upgrading the turrets, upgrading the dropships so that they either have better/more weapons or come in more frequently, and upgrading generators and gates. All of that would be great, add to role play, and make actually capturing and holding a planet more meaningful.

That could be kinda cool, but what if after you pump all this cash into a planet the algorithm decides it's not up for attack and then the border moves out to where you'll never be attacked again? That'd be a bummer. Or maybe not because now your name is holding this planet forever. Idk, neat idea.

I have a feeling that the coffers might play into unit logistics. It was a feature described back when the ComWar idea was first coined. I'm not even sure if they're going in that direction anymore though, so the coffers might end up being pointless other than when you want to end a contract early.

Also, I think they've already stated they don't plan to allow C-bill transfer between players.

Unit mechs.

A unit can purchase equipment and mechs, Mechlab them, and have these mechs register as Trial mechs for members of the unit. They already have the mechanism to let a mech say "already deployed" so this will ensure Unit mechs are only deployed once at a time.

Or PGI can start charging cbills to travel to a planet to defend it/attack it. The cost will be according to the distance from the Capital or the closest planet owned by the Unit. This will give incentives for dissimilar units to conquer a planet close to the front line.

Here's the thing.

Unit coffers only accomplish ONE thing since the debut of CW (including today-this post)...

Canceling contracts eat from the unit coffers.

That's all.

We are in month 3+ since CW's debut. So, how do you feel after 90 days?
