Good Start Or...

So far I have only used the trial banshee, here are some stats:
Maybe I have some aptitude for this? I obviously didn't get seal clubbed, in fact I think I was the one doing the clubbing here... I hope the level of competition will get higher then this.
But after those 25 games I only have like 13 million c-bills. That's all I get? I think that will only buy one mech and maybe a few upgrades, not too sure... So what mech do you think I should I buy now? I really like the large pulse laser.

13 mill is about what you get for the cadet bonus...spend it wisely.
metamechs.com - as the name implies it has the current meta builds with the reasoning for running them.

They still haven't properly implemented a 'try any mech out before buying' system, so what you want boils down to your preferred weight class and weapons (something rather hard to find out in 25 games with only one mech).
It might be prudent to avoid clans due to their extreme cost, your c-bill rate is particularly low now.

Please, stop with the misinformation. Clans cost no more than IS mechs once you fully kit out the IS mech with an XL engine, endo-steel, dhs, etc. You just pay it upfront instead of in the mechlab.

Yeah it seems like there is a lot out these out there. I don't need this game to be any easier right now though.

I'll keep playing and we'll see. I hope it gets harder.

I'd suggest using some of the other Trial Mechs for a bit, both IS and Clan, see how you like the different Classes and Factions and if you can do as well in them. You have a grand total of 3 hrs ingame so far, that's really not much, so try some other Trials for both Factions, see what you like. Check prices too, IS Mechs usually need to be upgraded which adds to the final cost, and then you've got modules as well.

Dont worry. These are the same people who will buy an IS mech because its "cheaper" and then throw a hissy fit that its not very good without the upgrades...
