back that threshold down to 300 dmg and they had 5 to our 3, one of which was only 12 points over their best. So we had two stand outs with a lot more average, But yeah, it does show that 1 or 2 standouts can really sway a match.

But I get the impression that most who pilot a nova (especially in stock config) consider surviving a match a major feat, much less breaking 500 in one.

Friends don't let friends drive stock robots. I'll drive half a stock Prime, with 6 extra DHS, but that's as close as I'll get.

Stock S is one of the better stock robots out there, with....acceptable armour allocation and no ghost heat capable loadouts. Crow Prime wins, and even some Hunchies can be decent stock (if horribly slow, ~20 SHS is 10 DHS).

It's not about being greedy, it's about going for parts that are very hard to spreed damage on, legs, heads, rear armour (usually the softest part of a mech). I've seen Mcgral post 1300 damage games in his WUBshee, with 9 kills, like I said, high damage numbers and little kills tells me you were not being efficient nor effective. I enjoy my sub 700 damage games that net me 2-5 kills, more than I enjoy 700+ damage games, with 1-3 kills.

I don't like doing legs. Not my style even though I know I can kill quickly by doing it.

To me the enjoyment is out maneuvering you while you have mobility. and my target of choice is STs.

But my biggest enjoyment is using the mechs people say "are crap" and using them well. My Pretty Baby is sticll one of my favorites. lol

Still a hot build if you try to alpha too much. And we know how much people love to alpha in this game. lol While they are overheated, I'll pick them apart.

Anansi almost has no choice except to be stock. Not much else you can do with it.

Me too.

My rides of choice right now:

PIRATES' BANE
VND-1AA
DRG-1C
AWS-8Q

It's very, very satisfing to drop the "meta" mechs with units like these.

I found out why the Nova is so tall now compared to its non-torsotwist counterpart. They had to adjust the height so it could torsotwist. Same with the Puma, it stands taller in mwomercs because of the torso twist feature addition.

I'm pretty sure once they come out with the Cauldron-Born, it'll have a higher profile as well since that's another 'mech that doesn't have torsotwist.

eh... I'd just go for the kill ASAP if they are shut down, either coring them or Heat-shotting them, and not worrying about over heat, if I've got them away from the pack that is.

here's my current novas builds:

Muffin Top "A" poptart sniper for attritioned CW openings... currently the S/Prime arm quirks are key (sorry had it backwards), you can remove vestigial and hedge w/ more DHS or you can go with 1 A arm

Dual Quad "B" just a simple 4x4 ML boxer mech, basically pretty stock

Gemini "S" cuz you know, might as well use that AMS variant for somethin; simple 6x6 SL boxer

Binary "Prime" this is the trending 5x5 SPL boxer, legit ****** mech for pouncing

i use seismic radar derp with all, and since most are boating you just go tier5 range and cooldown.

I've already mastered all those, So for now I'm running Clan wave I and II, then I'll come back and run my Resistance mechs, then Wave III. The 8Q is a fun one though. PPC build or LL? I run mine with ERLLs (but that was back before the quirks)

No 6 ERML Alphawarrior?

Either 23 DHS (with shield arm stripped) or ~20DHS and 4 MGs (and cry because they are useless...but you don't have to strip armour due to half ton ammo).

Corner peeks rather well....easily neutered.

My 8Q is PPC only, like it keep it pure. Having done the Clan Mechs wave 1 and 2 into the ground to the point that I got board with them, I'm enjoying IS, much, much more.

Gotta collect and master them all. lol Once I master a mech, I don't run it very often because I have more.

This could be flipped around,

On the other team was a Dire Wolf, Timber Wolf, and an Ice Ferret. I destroyed half of the team in a Cicada doing only 545 damage. Logic must dictate that Clan Mechs aren't really that overpowered since they didn't do much damage, have many kills, or noticable match score... if Clan was truly OP'd then those two of the "holy trinity" would have beat everyone down. Therefore, given the evidence... Clan is not OP, but IS is, as I have proof.

Shall I post my dozen 1k+ damage NopeVa rounds?

This method of PGI OP PLZ NERF has been debunked. In the PUG LIFE, you come across opportunities where Lolcusts have done the same. Better, actually. That's only three kills.

Exactly. It's a niche mech, and if you play to it's particular wheelhouse you can definitely pull things off, but as soon as you try to play it like a normal mech you get exploded. Hell, I've gotten at least 1 3 kill game with it playing it as an ambusher/vulture, and I'm not that great of a pilot. So the moral of the story is niche mech =/= a good mech.

As far as the OP, I'd say it could use some better Omni options more than quirks, I'm not sure why quirks are the new goto thing for every mech. PGI has shown a willingness to completely invent configurations and variants. Maybe unlock the JJs as well as ES and FF. The geometry is going to keep the Nova from ever being anything resembling over powered, why not open this stuff up for it.

Good to know they just nerfed my main Nova build with tomorrow's quirkage; cuz you know, the mech is now only worthy of PPC poptart sniping.

Anything else, gfy, suck a heat nerf.

But that's cool since I get a serious hardon for poptart sniping, but still. Good grief...

In other news, it's gained over two tons of free structure, coming to a max of 88 points.

While retaining 10% heat dissipation for either ER or Pulse weapon, gaining 5% MG RoF buffs(It's something), though I suppose it does lose torso twist.

20% twist speed with either Prime ST, which I rarely used, so I've lost nothing.

6 cERML & 6 cSPL without quirks gives it 6 DPS sustained and some reach. Now with all the heat / structure quirks, the Nova will be stronger / as strong as any IS Medium.

It can actually be quite powerful/viable as an ambusher with just 10 small pulse lasers, just ask Soy

Viable is not exactly the first word that pops into anyone's head when you say "Nova". Btw, the Storm Crow can mount 9SPL.
