There were some news on Reddit that a hacker had presented a known BF3 cheat that essentially made them see everything and the ability to kill anyone at will. And as far as I know DICE hasnt done anything about that part yet.
I like competitive gaming but this is the type of game where hackers could REALLY ruin the experience.

Cracks me up when people ask this stuff. Like the devs are keen to spill the beans on all their security measures
Knock Knock is there anyone home

as far as securing the game from the normal riff raff. Its a constant battle. As the anti cheats get better so do the cheats. The great irony is, if they put half as much effort into the game as they do into cheating, they wouldn't need to cheat.

Good point (on both parts, i miss Farscape).
I can understand cheating in a single player games but I dont see the challenge with cheating in a competition where you try to improve yourself. oh well, i'll just save a rack of LRM20 for their ***** when they show up.

It was a joke for APB when it first came out and has never done anything to quell the hacking in the Reloaded, but it was a complete nightmare for everyone when it kicks you out of game every 5 min unless you go and manually update it.

As for cheating, speaking with past experience as a cheater (won't say what game[s]) punkbuster is completely useless against any decent hack. That said, I don't know what anti-cheat system WoT uses but hacking is supposed to be near impossible since everything is server side though I have heard of one hack that works and there are some rather.......strange shots made now and then. Regardless the effectiveness of whatever system they decide to go with will be seen eventually.
EDIT: By the way, the point of cheating isn't to become a more skilled player as much as a better one. While hacking you will develop some skill since it will help you better utilise the hack but it's about being able to fly through and get good stats and/or have fun slaughtering countless groups of players before dying. And of course if half the player base is hacking then you hacking is just leveling the playing field, just because someone may have a hack doesn't mean they'll know how best to use it.

I have to agree punkbuster is complete garbage and is more of a liability than anything.

Yes agreed, one must assume they have systems in place to monitor cheats and hacks. But I think they might also need bug reports from us as well as us reporting people we suspect as well.
