3053, Timeline is 3050, so no go.
When it Comes to Mechs From Corean Enterprises, Possibilitys include:Nothing, Either Unseen, Already in Game, or Out of Timeline.

Speaking of Unseen:

Quote

In other Words, PGI (or IGP if they were behind it) done Goofed adding the (Project) Phoenix Package Mechs, Unless they Bumped the Timeline up to 3067+ (Start of the Jihad Era, Quickly Finishing the Clan Invasion Era and Skipping the Civil War Era), Otherwise They added Unseen and HG can Rip PGI a New One.

Hmmm... Maybe a "Bag o'Useless" 'mech pack with those two in it.

What other two chassis are similarly iconic and useless, or iconic due to their uselessness?

Fireball, a 3055 20 tonner, with a SSRM2 and a machiengun if I recall correctly, and the fastest IS mech speed I can recall.

As for something we have been waiting for a long time... I stopped playing last spring in the hopes CW may be out and I'd come back then. Well I just remembered I should load up MWO and see what's been going on last weekend... And I recalled the 'coming soon' ™ Flea. It's been a year and still no Flea? Though at this point the Flea would seem to be a Locust 3M in almost every way. And people still often laugh at the Locusts.. Well until I shot them in the rear in one and they burn in flames...

We're not using Project Phoenix designs for our Phoenix Pack, we're using the original TRO:3025 designs. The Phoenix Pack (and Sabre Pack) 'mechs are all Crusher Joe and Dougram designs, and those are no longer Unseen.

Since they are no longer Unseen, there's no reason to use Reseen designs.

At this point, it's mostly the Macross designs that are still Unseen since HG says they own those designs outside Japan.

Its not time for more.mechs or jump in the timeline, its time to polish CW, fix bugs and get ready for steam.

Content wise, I REALLY would like to see more stuff on CW like AI, logistics and stuff like that.

PGI, thanks for the Urbie.

The vast majority of the community is either very happy to get it, or very happy that you listened to the community and gave us what we wanted.

Anyone unhappy, well we'll count them as inconsolable trolls and move on.

Now that we have our 'useless' Urbie, I want to start the petition for the next 'useless' 'mech to add to our inventory:

The Ostscout.

From Sarna:

I think it would be hilarious to have this 'mech fighting side by side with Urbies.

Thank you for your attention.

I'd rather they first fix the game so that roles like pure recon are both neccisary, viable and rewarded. Until MWO moves away from everything revolving around as much damage as possible, mechs like the Urban are a waste of resources.

Also do something about the core game modes. Assault and Conquest feel like they are still in beta, there's almost nothing to them depth wise and the objectives themselves feel like arbitrarily plopped place holders.

The Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie, Phoenix Hawk, and the Crusader are all based on the VF-1 Valkyrie from Macross:

Posted Image

The Wasp and Stinger also had LAM versions, which made the connection even more obvious - and of course our Valkyrie even has the same name.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the whole Macross/Robotech mech thing (like the Warhammer, Rifleman, and Archer being Destroids and the Marauder being a Zentradi Officers Pod) but the Valkyrie (the BT light mech anyway ^_^) looks as close to a Macross Valkyrie as the Ostscout looks to a Zentradi Battle Pod. Going from the orginal TRO 3025 art, only the head looks like it came from a Macross VF (well maybe the lower legs a little too), while in later products like TRO 3050 even that had changed quite a lot (more rounded head). I honestly think that it would be one of the mechs that could definetely make it into MWO by using the Reseen Project Phoenix model, since it is probably lesser known than most of the unseen, and the Phoenix version actually looks better (in my opinion anyway) to the orginal art.

Wasp, Valkyrie, VF-1S. I think there's more than a passing resemblance.

The Project Phoenix Valkyrie is hideously fugly, like all PP designs:

I'd rather they put resources towards mechs being knocked down by heavy weapons like ac20 before making another mech, we got plenty in this game, how about more maps for both game modes, another game mode as well while your at it and much better matchmaker.

It's just you. Our Phoenix Hawk is the VF-1S Super Valkyrie:

Just to round out the pack, the Crusader is the VF-1J Armored Valkyrie:

GOOD NEWS! The people who work on 'mech design ARE NOT the same guys who work on game modes, maps, or other areas.

If we're lucky maybe we can have both!

Resources are consumed by art staff projects, and a redesign of the core game modes (as well as improving the base maps, particularly the old ones) are also art staff projects. I make no claim to know how PGI delegates it's internal projects, however it just seems like an incredible waste to have them cranking out mechs with designs that aren't even remotely supported by the game. It would be like Grand Turismo spending a portion of their design and art budget incorporating multiple highly detailed Model A and Model T cars but making them always compete with the top tier super cars. Yes it's awesome seeing that put into the game (especially as a history nerd), but that doesn't change the fact it's an effectively useless addition that serves no practical function in the game. There are simply other things, even on the art side of things, that MWO needs worked on more than yet more overpriced mech packs.

If the game were such that these mechs could actually be competitive and serve a useful function in the game then I would be all for them, but they aren't and they don't.

PGI has stated multiple times that the guys designing 'mechs, just design 'mechs, so...

GOOD NEWS!!!

EDIT: Oh and putting a requirement of 'competitive' on everything is silly.

At some point can't we just go in and have 'fun'?

Collisions, that's why the Fireball exists.. I think it was something like (1/5 tonnage)* X=number of hexes moved)... it worked out that a Firemonth charging at an Atlas might actually take out the leg of an Atlas, if it hit.

so the equition is 2 Fireballs equal one dead atlas. Sounds fair to me. Ok make it 3 since one can miss or get missed in action while charging.
