So I'm enjoying the new Urbanmech that was released today, and during the first match I used it, I scored a kill against a Mad Dog - though mostly because he didn't think the Urbie was a threat, and turned his back against 4x MG and a Large Pulse Laser. I really like this little guy.

During the 2nd game, there were 3 of us in our new Urbies, and we got to listen to some of our team mates bash both the mechs for being a waste of money, and bash us for being dumb enough to buy them. They asserted that we wouldn't be contributing, and wasted our teams slots with bad mechs. Here are the final scores from that 2nd game...

I think the Urbies carried their weight well enough. I was the lowest scoring Urbie at 42 points, but that's still better than 7 of the non-Urbies, and outdamaged 5 of the non-Urbies. Only one player did more damage than our top Urbie (who did 504).

Urbies accounted for half of our kills too

I'd like to point out that the person who did the most complaining (whose name I'll leave out due to the name-and-shame policy) scored lower than all three Urbies, and he was in a clan mech. If he reads this, he'll know who he is.

To be fair, in the map you posted, the other team had 3 Urbies, whilst you only had 2. So, the other team might legitimately make the claim leveled at you, if only those urbies didn't score better than most of their teammates.

2 matches in the Urbie so far. 4 kills, 7 assists, 873 dmg.

Maybe they made it too viable.

To be fair, you need to look it over again. He was mentioning the Match score of 42 points. He also mentioned his urbie mate who did 504 damage, and the Dire wolf who complained but only did 72 points of damage.
Altho i can see how someone could make a claim how someone would make such a mistake if they were either color blind along the red-blue line, or just plain not understanding how the score screen is designed to display the end of the game score

you equiped it to be viable. Standard it isn't. Equiping it in your style make it a little bit worse Kitfox in best szenario. It is fair to say that the UMs are ok, but not compareable to the topdogs in the light department.

i do find i get stepped on and/or shoved aside a lot by the big mechs, even my locusts don;t get stepped on as much. have seen a few 400+ dmg matches with 2-3 kills for urbies on one team or the other. think the most i saw was 4 kills so far.

trying to compromise between true urbieness(std 60) and min/max urbie (xl 180) by keeping things in the 54-67 kph range pre speed tweek (100-125 engines). couple real bad matches, a couple decent ones. 4 kills/7 deaths in 9 matches so far 4 wins/5 losses. about par for the course for me eliteing mechs so far.

I think now its safe to say the urbie is freaking good. Has varied viable loadouts and i would class it as the lightest viable medium available to I.S. lmao.

I'd love to bash the urbie.

Regretfully, it just bashes me :(

Out of all my lights I do best in my Urbies. My unit mates also constantly get good scores and good kills.

Last night I got highest damage at 678, and highest match score at 110 - of both teams. Also got 3 kills. So these little trashcans not only pull their weight they box well above their weight.

I think part of this is player psychology - they see an urbie and any other mech and the other mech will be targeted because the urbie is a 'trashcan'. Thus the urbie has a high survival rate and can carry heavy hitting weapons.

URBIEGOD FTW

best thing is how any small rise in the terain or medium sized rock provides 50% or better cover for an urbie :)
