You can shut down and hide in an Atlas' floating arm and be invisible.

For me

The Good:
FUN!
Unique
360 torso twist
FUN!
Good hard points various energy and ballistic building
Mostly generic quirks
Hit boxes are fine
spreads damage
small
FUN!
very responsive with good engine
right amount of JJ capacity
Looks great
Cockpit design is unique and funny, good view out of the window too (unlike the SHD, which is like playing MWO looking through a paper towel tube, or every noob who zoomed in and can't figure out how to zoom out)

The Bad:
(Nothing)

Expectations: Exceed!

Its an Urbie, the worst mech in the game, its the death trap, the joke, the 30 ton suicide mech. Of course its stupid slow at stock, the mech suckes in BT, and it sucks in MWO... its supposed to suck. But I still had fun driving it, back in my TT days and now. I found with a good XL engine the Urbie was very responsive, and 4 JJs allowed me to get anywhere I liked on Bog and Canyons. I'm not a speed demon, twitch gaming isn't my thing, so the max engine speed was fine for me. I could get out of cover, hit something and get back in cover. I had enough speed to even out flank Timbers and get back shots in.

It's supposed to be bad and it's kind of bad. I'm happy.

The urbie is mostlikly a kfx without a clan xl engine bon bon, other hardpoint locations and no chance to equip ecm. So in other words to speak it is bad. Anyhow if you are ignored you do okayish.

I'm sorry? I am not a fan of WUB. I will stand by the 666. ^_^
Then switch the Lpl and mpl for a LL + ml, and some extra heat sinks and jump jets.

But your original build was subpar and a half ton underweight.

Have to add more FUN 462 damage, and going 1v1 with a timberwolf and it ran away armour gone side torso gone and it ran from a legged urby !

If his pal hadn't taken me out with a sneaky back stab I would have had him !

Everytime i end with some heavy/Assault in front of me with an already heavily damaged CT the Standoff it's pretty much the same.

Assault : it's an Urbie Alpha once!!
Urbie: Eat AC/20 Trashborn!!
Assault: Wtf... not even get tru armor WTF is this!!
Urbie: Impending Doom delivery, take two!!
Assault : Oftenly panics or dies before the third shoot.

Fixed that for you: UM-R60

I'm running that with an ERPPC, and a STD155 engine: UM-R60 (FF armor would allow me to push up the armor to max, but I'm being cheap till I settle on builds)

It's surprisingly effective. No huge damage games, but several 3-4 kill matches.

My thoughts, though:

The Good:
IT'S AN URBANMECH IT'S HERE I LOVE IT
Tiny size means tiny hitboxes. Easy to spread damage, and with a standard engine (easy to fit a big standard in there, tonnage difference is miniscule) can really keep fighting under fire.
Hardpoint location is awesome, you can ridge-hump amazingly well - you're tiny to begin with, and can keep more than half your mech under cover while firing... using nothing but a tiny rock.

The Bad:
Smaller engines are unusable not because of the speed, but because of how slowly it twists. The Urbie really, REALLY needs +torso yaw rate quirks.

I find I can't run AC10/20 on them, at all. Just can't make it work. The UAC5 works reasonably, but when I use it on the urbie, I find jamming to be too serious a problem - the UAC5 is pretty much all your damage output after all. The AC5, however, that's the money for me. The extra ton shaved from the UAC5 means another Medium Laser, and the reliability is very valuable.

the Bad

Now this isn't a dig, because I think PGI did us proud, not only providing the Urbie, but adding the fourth to the collectors edition.

Just I got four Urbies and only three war horn, trash cans and I get sad face when I kill and none can hear it :( and the lil guy don't show

I've been running almost exclusively energy builds, with MG backups for when I'm overheated.

The weight of anything larger than UAC-5 just doesn't seem viable, not at speeds under 90, so I've been trying combinations of energy with lots of MG backups.

XL-170, DHS, ES seems to work on just about every build I dare attempt.

Biggest obstacle is that there are way too many Streak-6 noobtubes running around right now.

I think little Urbie is going to need some more Quirk love leaning a little more towards Energy builds tbh, or fine tune some turning speed quirks so it can maneuver around a little better at those lower speeds.

Would be nice to talk about MG's too and where they're sitting.

Try using ACs. I know the temptation for some will be to make it like the usual light meta with lasers and mgs, but ACs work pretty well on it in my, (albeit brief), experience. I got 4 kills last night using the UAC5/3 ML combo. You just have to remember you're a light, so don't go nose to nose with anything bigger than you, (which will be about 90% of everything you encounter), and remember to keep moving. A still light is a dead light.

I know, I know, I'm the first to say that screencaps mean nothing in build discussions, but really... this is TONS of fun.

I love Standard engines on Urbanmechs. It's so easy to tank damage (not that XL's are vulnerable, it's a tiny mech) and really a STD155 comes in at 11.5t pod space at almost-full armor and 92.1kph, while the XL180 is 13.5t and 106.9kph.

Also, the STD155 is really cheap, which helps because I reflexively gave all my urbies DHS and such and now am poor :)

I legged a locust and an LRM boat got the kill.

I then died in a fire to the next 3 mechs I found.

Story of my life.

I've only tried 10+ games on the R60, and unfortunately with poor results... but this is what I feel so far:

GOOD:
- 360 twist makes for interesting movement
- Scaling is alright

BAD:
I had a hard time finding something viable until I stuck an XL145 in it, and then a lighter autocannon in place of the AC10. Ultra 5 seems the most comfortable at the moment.

- Needs serious Ballistic velocity quirks; the AC10 just doesn't work well on the Urbie IMO; YMMV.
- Better ballistic cooldown may be helpful as well, given that taking an AC10/AC20/LBX10 takes up a lot of weight.
- Only Tier 3 level weapon quirks, but this is still bearable.
- Too fragile for my liking despite the decent hitboxes, but maybe because I haven't really found what works yet. It should be the tankiest 30-tonner possible. Could also be because haters just focus on any urbies they see first. Needs some armor quirk, but if one does well with the current armor, it will seriously improve skillset for survivability on all other mechs.

The most glaring problem is...

UGLY:
- Only +15% torso twist rate? Really disappointed with lack of serious torso twist rate / accel / decel quirks. Completely undermines the ability to do peek shot without a decent engine (probably 120 rating and above without quirks and basics/elite. With the stock engine, it must be able to twist / accel / decel well enough, let alone a bigger engine. At least +50% in all these areas is required. That said, I would probably still give benefit of the doubt that they are doing the iterative quirking process. Recommend +75% to +100% (which has the benefit of giving it another niche as the most responsive peeker in-game despite engine cap of 180).

This doesn't mean I agree with players who says it is better to decouple engine rating from twist rate; it does add a bit of dynamics to tweaking.

I'm running even less modified: I dropped one heat sink from my UM-R60L for another ton of AC/20 ammo, and left everything else alone. So far I'm at a 1.5 KDR, 2:1 WLR. Was thinking of switching to ferro for more armor coverage, and double heat sinks to deal with heat issues, but I'm not sure I'm going to bother. :)

The Good:
Players got exactly what they asked for.

The Bad:
Players didn't know what they were asking for.

The Ugly:
Players complaining about getting what they asked for.

I have said this multiple times for literally years (ever since people were calling for the UrbanMech) - the UrbanMech is not a competitive chassis. It just ISN'T. People in this thread are talking about how it isn't "Tanky" enough... Seriously? 30 Tons. People could have experimented with the UrbanMech's durability for literally years by just playing a Spider and cutting out the engine.

Sadly, the Spider makes a better Urbanmech, with a faster torso twist, and articulated arm.

I'm loving my Dual PPC max engine trashtart.

I got my first kill in an urbie, jumping away from a cataphract, spun 190 degrees and blew out his CT .001 seconds before I was killed in mid air by his buddies. I will never forget that kill lol.

Cant wait to 360 drop shot some bads also!
