Here's a little follow-up with some actual stats for comparison, all solo drops:

FS9-S with .72 W/L and .90 K/D: FIRESTARTER FS9-S 44 18 25 0.72 28 31 0.90 11,101 58,306 05:15:57
OK, that's a meta chassis, obviously I can't pilot it well since I have such a poor W/L and K/D with it.

FS9-S with 1.32 W/L and 1.03 K/D: FIRESTARTER FS9-S 85 45 34 1.32 61 59 1.03 18,798 91,184 08:37:31
Um, OK, I guess maybe I'm not completely terrible in this mech after all.

FS9-S with 1.23 W/L and 1.65 K/D: FIRESTARTER FS9-S 60 32 26 1.23 56 34 1.65 15,298 86,489 07:04:45
Huh, maybe I'm OK, maybe even better than average in this mech?

^What's going on there? Are those three sets of stats for the same mech as I leveled it? Nope. Those are three sets of current stats from three different accounts, my main and two alts. The first one is my newest account, and most of those games were in the trial mech champion during events in December and since. Second set is from my original alt account; IIRC some of those games were before quirks, most were after. The third is from my main account, and most of those games were before quirks were added. I know it's only anecdotal, but I think it's a pretty good demonstration of how factors other than individual pilot skill can affect one's stats, since those stats are pretty skewed from each other and I'm the player behind all three.

Pug vs Comp is completely different and as far as I have seen in any game there is rarely a good way to measure your personal skill accurately. In other games I have seen pug stomping overlords come to a comp match and get absolutely wrecked. This being said always try to better your personal skill and just don't worry about what others think. There is always a bigger fish no matter how good you get.
