With the new quirks I tried and gave the moreless hated ACs another go with my Warhawk and compare them to my beloved 4xLPL Wubhawk.

2xAC10u +7t ammo, 2xERLL
-20% ballistic cooldown and -30% jam chance sounded quite nice

My experience in ~10 games:

- Almost no heat problem even on constant firing, which is nice.
- neverending dakkadakkdak, dakkadakkdak, dakkadakkdak, ...
- jamming is still an issue, but "almost" okay.
- and: HARDLY ANY DAMAGE

I had some nice kills with it (dakkad to the death), but overall, the damage potential is lousy (200-500) compared to what I'm used to (400-1000).

I don't know. I just hate ACs.
Maybe it's the missing arm freedom (helps a LOT to make good hits once you've practiced it).
Maybe it's the damned bursts compared to the pinpoint 26-damage hole that a perfectly aimable dual-LPL-shot tears.
Maybe it's because of the f******* ammo that explodes and/or the giant crit-prone ACs (yes, 4 slots size is giant for a laser vomitter).

My verdict:
I really tried... It looks cool on paper (and sounds awesome ingame), but i feel it's only about HALF as good as a classic Wubhawk.

So is it just me? Can this thing be good?

Perhaps switch one of the CUAC10s and one CERLL, into dual CLPLs? That way you get to have all the weapons on the arms for better movement and still have long range poke. Plus, you won't be screwed by the jamming as much.

Something like WHK-C Alt

all C-ACs' are crap except the CUAC5

Saw a DW with 4 CUAC10s' yesterday

Only way to tell is to try stuff

It usually takes them about 3 matches before they swing the nerf bat

The other way to tell if something is working is if people start crying about it on the forums LOL

As long as it is hitting the enemy from optimum range, eating ammo is less of a concern for me. ;) Although I could use 25% more ammo for ballistic weapons.

I really like the ballistic quirks the Warhawk got. I run a UAC/20, 2 ER PPCs, and a TC-V. It's pretty awesome!

I still wouldn't mind a projectile speed buff to the Clan ballistics though.

Yeah I've been running a UAC10 on my Mad Dog, and it seems like it fires tickle bullets, because other than make noise and eat ammo, it really doesn't appear to do anything. I've even shot light mechs with it, to no noticeable affect. Same goes for larger mechs standing stock still. It does seem to startle them for a bit, until they realize it isn't actually hurting them, so there's that I guess?

I think that's more along the lines of what MGs are like right now.

The frustrating bit is that the UAC/20 is like the IS UAC/5 (or dragon1n with ac5s...ugh), with less range and moving at a quarter of the speed

The UAC/10 is like IS AC5s on normal mechs

The cUAC/5 is like IS AC/2s that move at half the speed

and the cUAC/2 is a joke LBX-2 that can 'doubletap', which means nothing when you're talking about 1-damage hits that you pay out the nose for in ghost healt penalties

Someone suggested reducing the number of pellets per volley; I think that's the way to go to give clan ballistics something to justify using them (mgs and gauss rifle aside).
