1)Someone told that MWO will be "best mechSIM ever, and we will do all to keep it as close to canons as possible". Is it still a goal?...
2)Negative tonnage - you will let it be or its just a "placeholder" untill you will redesign whole weight-system?
3)Any way to see new U.I. for tests before its will be "set in stone" like it was with U.I. 2.0?
4)Will he wave some new way how to use Gexp and MechExp?
5)CW - this format will remain as it is or you thinking about change it? Mean - we will fight for those "planets with 12 orbitall cannons" all the time or there will be smth more then those cannons, like factories and so on?
6)Will you limit that faction lawlessness? Maybe YOU will take a role of "coorditator" - who and where will fight? Maybe Limit amount of "active planets" to 1 per faction/faction bordeline? So all players of same faction will have locked way to expand ther motherland?
7)Roles. Now we see chaos at battlefield - heavys goes brawl while lights are dangerous damage dealers. Scouting? Its just "run into,activete uav/artillery and run out". Atlases as LRM-boats and so on. What you think about it?
8)What you are think about weapon-specific-hardpoints? For example AS7 missle hardpoints for SRM-only?
9)What about "hardcore mode" like is some FPS (COD etc) - only stock mechs allowed with 100(95)% canon rules? So those who want "hardcore" (like im) will get it while others can keep playing game as it is now? (MW4-type arcade.. sad but true...).

Last but not least:
Will you make a multi-level-maps? All current maps are flat, only HPG can count to be close to be "map with few levels", all others has nothing more then "|some highgrounds/tunnels".

P.S. will we see real "planetary fortress" or those "few guns and generators" are max resistance that we will see?

P.P.S. Ah and one more thing to say - you all are doing great job now, and even when we /community i mean/ blame you sometimes its still great game. But. For now i have 9500 MC and i have no resons to spend it, same with c-bills - got 150 000 000 but have no reasons to use it... Waiting for ZEU but still - there are too low reasons to waste resourses after you got favorite mechs etc. Think about it - maybe let us buy mechpacks with mc?..

Can you give us a breakdown of your goals for additions/improvements to the game that are absolutely essential prior to steam release? Do they include:

New player experience? (and if so can you give us some idea of what you have planned for this)

The much talked about animation pass? (Direwolves prancing, timberwolves dragging their feet, no articulation on adder/kit fox ankles etc)

Return of visual/physics effects that have been removed? (Inverse kinematics, corkscrew missiles, collisions etc, do you aim to reintroduce these prior to steam?)

Adding depth with a much more expansive pilot skill tree? (theres loads you could do here, one idea you said you liked previously was tying quirks into the skill tree)

the 4v4 mode for CW.

  • web shop interface, will you be able to buy mechs, cockpit items, or such, via web-site? people may not have the client everywhere but would like to buy stuff (well, especially during sales), maybe authentication via client for web purchases would be needed first?

Clan mechs as they are, don´t have much individualism per variant, if not for their CT.
We can build the SCR-Prime the same as a SCR-D.
they could have been more unique with just changes in their fixed loadout
distirbution of armorslots, structurslots, their DHS and jumpjets.
And fixing this distribution on the variant, not the omnipods.
example:
Like the WHK-Prime always has the LT full of DHS regardless of the Omnipod,
but giving the WHK-C only 1 DHS in the LT and distributing the other DHS somewhere else, regardless of the Omnipod
or using a variant with less fixed DHS.

with something like this you could create some unique Hero Clan Mechs.

Hi Russ,

thanks for giving us the opportunity to adress our questions.

For me there are three main issues/features i would like to ask you something about.

1. CW Balancing
I love playing CW and once its done it will be a great enrichement for gameplay and fun. But like other community members i think the fun suffers alot due balancnig issues. Playing against premades as a solo player is nearly always a guarantee for losing. And right now i cant see that LFG is fixing the problem. So my question is: Are there any further plans for balancing CW for solo players or small groups? And if so, when can we expect such adjustments?

2. Solo Campaign / Targets
Also as mentioned before will there defenitely be a solo campaign / missions / targets perhaps like UNWARY suggested? And if so, any ETA?

3. Skill tree / Pilot tree remastered
In my opinion skill and pilot tree needs some refinement. Right now after mastering my mechs there is not much to do with all the XP i gained. The opportunities in the pilot skill tree isnt very versatile as well.

And last but not least, thanks for making this game! It gave me hours and hours of funtime.

QUESTION:

Can you release the Griffin GRF-2N? Maybe even as reward for a challenge?

The GRF-2N would be a good rival for the Hellbringer in CW (it has stock ECM).

Are there plans to advance the time line?

Are there plans to introduce any amount of lore based events that are themed after significant battles (luthien, tukayyid,tywcross, radstadt, tirtle bay, etc?)?

Are you going to be introducing the reserved clans as factions at any point?

Absolutely not agreeing! Taking away CW for solo players is simply not fair. Not all the players have the possibility and the time to organize themselves in groups. Simply not allowing solo playsers to enter CW wont solve the problem in the right manor. Adjusting the matchmaker seems more appropriate.

Hi and thanks for hosting another Townhall! I have just a few questions I would like to throw out as well:

1) Jump Jets: Any word on increasing their functionality? Perhaps restoring them with their heat nerf preserved as a test, similar to how Ghost Heat changes were tested for the IS AC/2s? (Thread about it here: http://mwomercs.com/...-functionality/)

2) ETA on planetary value and defenses?

3) ETA on uses for Unit Coffer?

4) Regarding the Launch Video, how long before things like player generated contracts; Merc, Loyalist, and Clan Life; planetary based Mech/Tech production/development; etc?

5) Has there been any more thought to linking Mechs and their Factions such that Loyalists can only use Mechs unique to their Faction or generic to all Factions? Could this be based on planetary/factory ownership? For Mercs, any update on a Black Market and player driven economy?

6) ETA for the Thunderbolt Hero? Will it have ECM?

Edit: Any more information about the next UI/Mechlab?

Now that Sony has bought out Harmony Gold, what are the odds we see the Stinger, Wasp, Phoenix Hawk, Archer, Marauder, etc?

And Hatchetman - can we have melee soon? I want to punch clanmech faces.

What sort of development will we see outside of the simulator, as far as things such as Mercenary Unit Management, Strategic Planning, Placement of Forces, and Planned Tactical Missions, including Objective-Based Combat Missions, and Resource Management? Will we see any of these in the future?

Dropship:
- These massive ships should be able to effectively defend the troops they are dropping on the ground. Any plans to increase their firepower to something more suitable for a dropship?
a) In case the reason to not make them as strong as they can be, why not prevent dropships from dropping unless they have 2+ mechs waiting? This way it would decrease the amount of dropships drops needed.

Maps:
- Terrain - Currently most (if not all) obstacles (gates / hills) are avoidable by the use of JJs. Are there any plans to make some obstacles impossible to get past by mechs in JJs?
- Terrain - Currently the terrain going from the "area to defend" up to the "spawn area" is fairly short / easy to maneuver / easy to use to get cover... Are there any plans to change this to prevent spawn camping?
- Defensive turrets - As it is at the moment, a few lights can just rush past turrets defenses, ignoring them completely to quickly get close to the generator and destroy them. Any plans to diversify the kind of turrets available or increase their numbers?

Miscellaneous:
- When are we going to be able to salvage mech parts from the enemy on a win?
- After successfully defending a part of a planet, should the players/teams have a choice to beef up defenses?
- Why is it so important to have a spawn mode on a simulation game like this? As it is, spawns work against simulation.

Game Modes:
- Are we ever going to have battle modes including other vehicles?

Wait what....Sony bought Harmony Gold? Hmm...even so the whole "who has rights to what" will still probably be a problem. But having HG out of the way does make things promising.
Edit: Having read a little on this It's still not clear who owns what rights. And HG wasn't bought out. They seem to have sold the movie rights to make a Robotech movie to Sony. So the unseen mechs are likely to stay that way for now. :(


I only have a few CW related comments/questions:

1) Can or will the dropship locations be changed? Spread out more so enemy spawn campers have to also spread their forces. And can something be added to allow players to choose which drop point to use, and when to drop (within a time limit). In the short term more spread out drop points might help.

2) Might be cool too if the team could opt to wait for a larger than 4 man group to build and then drop in a larger dropship.

3) Have you considered having people spawn in underground bunker locations as well as dropships.

4) Or can a feature be added to allow players to vote to quit a CW match? Then if a bad spawn camp happens the loosing team can vote to forfeit the game and move on. (Maybe only make it available after the first 15 minutes has passed.)

5) Oh, and will the CW maps ever be available for the other game types? (Or just Skirmish for now.)

PS: Loving the Urbies. Didn't play enough to get anything in the recent Urbie event, but did still manage to get all 3 elited.

You recently tweeted about a possible IS heavy with ECM. Is this happening and if so will it be an existing 'Mech or a new one?

What is the plan for the timeline in 2015 and what weapons or equipment do you plan to release as the timeline progresses?

If PGI buff the non-holy trinity omnimechs (with quirks) to make them par with the SCR/TBR/DWF, 12v10 would be perfect for CW (both balance and lore wise). No need of different total tonnages for IS and Clans.
