So I have seen a few older games like Resident Evil get a HD remastering. I wonder if PGI has the rights to do something like that to the other Mechwarrior games.

Not likely. They probably couldn't afford the extra licensing necessary.

I'd settle for a simple GoG rerelease. Hd remakes tend to be at best "okay" and at worst stolen work from fans of the series or shoddy attempts to cash in nostalgia.

With PGI's development speed, we might see one in 20 years... or soon™ as many prefer.
Jokes aside, the Mechwarrior IP is a pretty tricky thing because the rights for the different games are split all over the place. I would be glad to see a gog release but even that seems impossible. I just wish I could play MW2 again. I just can't get it to work on my System.
On a side note, the current HD remakes are just cash grabs to milk the fans even more. I mean, we see games remastered which are barely some years old or we are having the third remaster of the same game.

TBH.... The only remake I'd like to see is the MW4 tutorial in MWO.
My 10yr old cousin played -just- the tutorial for 3 hours one day.
It was just the right amount of teaching and giving the player some freedom to goof around in some spots.

Shoddy attempts to cash in on nostalgia, are you sure PGI can't do this, it's their only skill.

Unfortunately it isn't that easy (I so wish it was).
The old games need to be edited to remove the HG offending mechs before they can be resold. That means reprogramming old titles. I can't see Microsoft making provisions to have that done.
Its sad

well a remake would be great, MW2/3 with the new graphics would be really nice to play.

Its funny because it wouldn't seem too hard to do. If PGI added vehicles and AI (both a possibility in MWO's future), and has destructible targets, they would pretty much be there. A game like MW3 had voice-over exposition and briefings. The rest was all gameplay (no pesky 3D video or motion capture stuff to worry about).
I wish it was something in the works.
