I was listening to today's interview and was not particularly surprised to hear plans for selectable munitions have been shelved.

Given that I wanted to suggest something we had been discussing at our unit - a hybrid slug/flachette round for the LBX cannons.

Currently the lbx fires a set number of sub munitions that scatter in a cone. While this is excellent for some purposes it makes the weapon mostly useless at the longer ranges, that under lore it was supposed to be effective at.

What I wanted to suggest was that the lbx round instead have a core slug that fires straight and carries say half or a third of the rated damage of the weapon, with the rest of the damage made up of the scattering sub-munitions.

In this way the weapon still acts as a shotgun for close range but keeps at least half of the damage out to long range if fired accurately.
