I thought it was PT Barnum ...

Oh, and how can I get in touch with that prince? I need to give away my SSN because I really need beta access NOW!!! B)

i read that he was credited for saying it, though there really is no supporting evidence that he ever did actually say it.

Also good job to the Youtube staff .. myself and others have reported this video for what it is being a fake/scam and they still refuse to do anything about it.

Which goes to show that all though there are functions to report videos on youtube there staff does nothing about the ones that are reported on.

Eh, wrong, that's just not their job. I have had my copyrighted content stolen (copied and reposted) on youtube before, reported it, and had resolution (video removed and flagged DMCA violation) within 48 hours (might have been 24, can't remember). A video cannot scam you. Now, if they're breaking a copyright, MWO could report it, and if there was sufficient cause the staff would certainly address it quickly.

If there is a lot of scamming going on, it means they recognize that this will be a popular game.

After reading this thread, I'm curious as to how many chinese gold farmers are awaiting your information, so they can later take control of the inner sphere.

Yes, we see this for every game and then even some fraudulent e-mails as well. Thanks for the heads up. Everyone needs to know or be reminded off this junk. Thanks again. Hope it saved someone's butt :-)

There are always scammers looking to desperately leech for success wherever they can find it. To this day Youtube is still covered in referral link videos. They basically say, "make an account off this link, lvl to 5, and you'll get a ton of RP/IP". In reality all that will happen is you giving the owner of that link a referral count. It's a very obvious scam and I saw right through it on the first day it started. I've told people that if you want to lvl a new account... you may as well do it off YOUR own referral link so that YOU actually get the rewards, not some random guy you don't even know. It's a carrot on a stick hanging over a hole. You should be smarter than that.

Other scammers claim to give you early beta access to stuff(And these exist on League claiming to give you RP) yet just waste your time with surveys. These guys are getting paid in advertisements to deliberately waste your time by promising you stuff they have no intention of ever giving you. If a site wants you to fill out a survey to access something, it's a safe bet that site doesn't really have what you're looking for. Again, they're just baiting you with a carrot on a stick for their own purposes.

That is why I get all of my news and media for MWO here! I can highly recommend the security of the mwomercs.com website.

That sounds exactly like the CFW for the PS Vita scam that was going on a while ago.

It's a two sided coin this one,

They are bad for doing it

Yet you are also bad for being dishonest enough to try it!

"If you're not willing to risk your money to get into beta early, then you're not a real fan of MechWarrior."

Wasn't that the general consensus among half of the Founders just last week?

Your right to a point but as for someone who happens to be in my shoes,(being unemployed and having no money in the bank to even help with my job search let alone purchase a DLC pack for early access to the beta), that thought becomes null. If I had a job and the money in the bank to play with then I would be right with yall in that thought. But I got to live with my reality and that is that Im looking for a job. But even in my job search I would still play the Beta if given access during the day. Im not trying to rush into the beta Im being nothing but patient. But is it too much to ask for some info on when exactly the Open Beta starts and when the game will be officially launched? I been checking back on the site once a month and seen no new news of relevance to me. All I want to know is when it starts and if the devs will make the Dire Wolf mech as a update addition or what and when they add the Dire Wolf. Thats it.

I think people that try to get into the beta earlier by using a key generator instead of waiting should be slapped upside the face XD

It's a very common scam and it happens with every closed beta out there. Frankly, I'm surprised there are people who still buy into that crap.

Yeah. Just remember, there's no key at all, Beta access is linked with your account, not a series of numbers.
