Correct me if I'm wrong- Each mech's ability to climb hills is based on their approach speed. Steep hills slows down mechs until they stop, which limits slower mechs (or mechs that didn't get a running start) from climbing as well as faster mechs. This is fine.
My problem is that once speed has dropped, the game no longer cares if you are already at the top of the hill, where the ground is already nearly flat-the game simply stops you until you twist around a few more times, then it let's you walk forward (or at times, you can't).
I feel that a mech should be able to climb (at minimal speed) based on their weight and engine output (and slope steepness).
In ideal case, I would love to see the climbing being a function of leg type, and length of stride too.

The ability climb hill is decided by each mech's "size" assigned by PGI. So mechs with "Large" or "Huge" sizes will have hard time climbing the slopes, while mechs with "Medium" or "Tiny" sizes will have the easiest time. There should be a thread detailing all mech's sizes, but I cannot find it ATM.

it is pretty stupid and just bad modeling that mechs with knees will have trouble climbing a hill etc

As a Stalker Pilot I have mastered the art of jiggling my asstorso when climbing... especially maps like Alpine...
Its a fine art indeed

If they buff jumpjets they definitely need to fix hill climbing. Otherwise jumpjet mechs will become meta again simply because everyone else gets stuck on small rocks.

Assaults feel alot worse since they adjusted the bounding box, literally getting stuck on every little thing.. sucks
Definitely felt it on the Crab after it got switched.
I think they need to dump the archetype used by assaults, and just make them use the Heavy movement profiles.
Getting stuck on pebbles and being forced to a full stop on every ramp 1 degree too steep.. is annoying to say the least.
Also started noticing that even on Mediums or lights with JJ, if you don't clear an obstacle just right, you end up kinda floating at the lip of it, and will take a massive fall damage hit afterwards.
