I'm on the fence.
I rarely ran a bunch of IS mechs, sold them off, kept some classics i.e. kintaro/spider, couple I won, raven/cent. One I suck goat eggs in but paid real money for- pirates bane and *bane is correctly named.
I'll take them out occasionally, but even with quirks, I'm having more 'fun' in clamechs®

Anyone abandon one group over the other? dumped all the clan or the IS and only run one group?

Anyone even more strange than that and ONLY runs (keeps in mechbays) One chassis and a butt ton of variants?
Saw a screenshot elsewhere the guy ONLY had stormcrows....6 total..nothing else...not a stinking thing other than stormcrows, now THATS dedication.

*noun-BANE: (who names these things)
1.a person or thing that ruins or spoils:
Gambling was the bane of his existence.
2.a deadly poison (often used in combination, as in the names of poisonous plants):
wolfsbane; henbane.
3.death; destruction; ruin.
4.Obsolete. that which causes death or destroys life:
entrapped and drowned beneath the watery bane.

Play mostly clan here. Sold off all my non hero is mechs.
Sold off most of my non (I) mechs too. I like omni pods. I currently have 70 free mech buys and 40 mechs in my mech Bay.

No, why, knowing the weaknesses and strenght of your opponents is best revealed by using their tools.

I have both, but I am quite the opposite of the OP, I ran a bunch of clan mechs, but decided they were boring and went back to my inner sphere ones. (especially since I found out that a 93kph firebrand is actually very successful, and fun.)

---I do occasonally run a clan mech just for a break in pattern

I stopped reading when you said that the Pirates Bane was bad.... Maybe you are just not a Locust pilot, they are the most demanding chassis on the skills of the pilot, they are also the least forgiving....

Still, a decent Locust pilot can be a source of ire for the entire OPFOR, but they will almost never be seen as the MVP of your team, but a well played Locust will be an unsung hero for your team. :)

I'm never touching Clan tech. The mere thought of it repulses me.

Almost completely IS. I have one Timber Wolf Prime because I have always liked the mech.

I have little if any interest in buying a clan pack, yet purchased the previous IS pack and the Urbie.

Despite my first game being MechWarrior 2 and therefore my first exposure to the BT universe being from the Clan perspective, I am solidly an IS pilot.

Honestly, I would say a much larger percentage than you expect is that way.

I have likely 50% or so of all of CWDG is clan only. That number could be higher...maybe 60%.

I expect there are lots of people that are firmly entrenched on one side of the fence or the other.

Interesting

Only IS in my Acct.

Have seriously considered blowing up my Mechbay at times and distilling it to:
Package Variants (Founders, Phoenix, Sabre, Loyalty, Resistance, Urban)
Heroes
and a handful of "normals"
PNT-10K, All Urbies, VNDs, CN9s, HBKs and ZEUs.

The only way I would break my "only IS" clause on this Acct, would be if the Summoner finally gits gud. Because that's my favorite Non-Unseen Heavy Chassis.

I stopped using my freebirth mechs the moment the mechs of the true descendants of the star league became available.

I'm running the mechs which are best at killing stuff. Which means either heavily quirked IS mechs or TW/DW/SC.

A lot of guys running nothing but IS or Clan quickly doom any balance discussion by going full "NO MATTER WHAT SIDE I'M ON, THE OTHER SIDE IS OP!"

I use whateva I feel like at the moment. This coincidentally happens to be mechs like the Wubber, Wubhawk, and Loki, because I have a hard time finding an IS mech that seems to gel with me (used to be Shad 2King, but after the laser vomit uprising it seems much less durable).

Don't be silly, ComStar isn't a playable faction. Oh! You mean your using the IS mechs ComStar uses as they become available. I see.

Surely you don't mean the Clans. They are descended from treasonous cowards who ran away when things got tough. :)

Nope.

As soon as the Clan Invasion started, I made a Clan account for my Clan mechs and kept this account for all my IS mechs. Best decision I ever made for MWO. The extra cost of spending GXP to unlock modules was entirely insignificant in the long run, compared to the advantages of having dedicated accounts.

I find it really puzzling that PGI doesn't let everyone have a Clan character and an Inner Sphere character on the same account. It's such a fundamental feature in a game like this.
