In the last townhall Russ stated they are going to expand River City. So, I was thinking about getting some ideas on what PGI should do to truly improve River City. While we're at it, you can talk about other maps like Forest Colony and Mordor, etc.

River City would be fine if it was larger and if they made the city a little more realistic in layout. It's a fun brawling map, but like all PGI maps, it feels more like an arena than an actual city.
Real cities are densely-packed, PGI cities are spread way out so that mechs can freely tromp around at full speed. There's a reason why Urbies are slow - they don't NEED to be fast in a city where everything is packed in.

River City: Throw in a subway that connects one corner to the other, under the river. Just one long corridor with piled up subway cars to use as cover and indented drop off areas to hide in.
Forest Colony: Make it sunny.
Terra therma: (this will take a little work) Various volcano's have lava effects blowing out of the top, so take that a step further and implement a "flooding" effect. The caldera in the middle should begin to swell and the lava should fill the lava lanes, also as the middile rises it increases the ambient heat in the center. Random timing, some games it happens, some games it doesn't.
Various volcanos around the map can also erupt, possibility creating intense lightning storms in the area that strike the ground, and if one strikes your mech it has a PPC effect that disables ECM, and makes your hud stuttery for a few moments. I'd like to see a new effect, a blinding effect that if a lightning strikes infront of your field of view within a certain range, it darkens your vision and the lightning strike is ghosted in your screen, blurring as you move, returning to normal after 3 seconds.
Maps in general:
- Water depths affecting mech speed
- Gravity
- Accurately simulated ballistic trajectories
- Destructible props.

Car littered subway's gonna be prime hunting ground for high mounted mechs such as Stalkers or Jagers.

Someone should put all the maps together into one big map with some modification to make them flow together better.... There are times when I'd like to see a HUGE map, constantly in contest like PS2....... Not saying it's the only answer, but I think it's make a cool option.

They are going to knock out the mountain range in River City (behind the bridge connecting the star port to the upper city) and attach Forrest Colony to it. The river in River City empties out into the bay of Forrest Colony where the freighter is shipwrecked.

This is actually a great idea. Maybe they could put frozen city in Alpine.
