Since PGI can add their own mechs to Mechwarrior I wounder if we should have something like the Star Citizen had with The Next Great Starship Challenge. https://robertsspace...-great-starship

For Mechwarrior you could do a simpler version. You do detailed artwork for the mech. And you work out all the exact hard points and quirks if related. The community along with PGI could decide the winner. Or really since it is so much simpler than Star Citizen ships it could be more than one winner.

Hmm it could even be an entire mech pack with a light, medium, heavy and assault. A very good chance I would buy this.

Also it could have prizes both from PGI and from sponsors.

I really think this could be a fun contest to have. And if they did a mech pack PGI would be making money of the deal so it helps the game and pays for their time.

As a side note even if you cant draw well if you have a good idea you can get people to help for a very decent price or some times even free if they are interested in mechs. And keep in mind it does take time and skill its just like hiring a mechanic so it not a terrible thing if they ask to be paid :) Here are some places to find artists.

Good luck to you, but I have a very long list of pre-existing 'Mechs from TT I'd love to see in MWO would rather attention be devoted towards them ahead of invented designs with no lineage.

PGI isn't interested in collaborating with it's customers. It never has been.

People have been asking to help with maps in various ways and forms since closed beta with no luck. Seems PGI is concerned about intellectual property and such. Yes, i know...we could sign away all rights etc., but that doesn't seem to matter.

A mech would actually be simpler than a map, but I highly doubt that they would go for it. Nice idea though.

It would only be one cycle of mechs and would be far out in the future since you have to have time for.... PGI to setup contest. Teams to design mechs. Winners to be chosen. And then at least one standard cycle of making mechs.

This is a lot simple than letting players help design maps. And they have worked with the community before on coming up with champ builds etc.

You'd need 3 and there are 100s of mechs still available in canon and timeline so why would the community create some monstrosity amalgam of epic proportions.

What weight class do you suggest we make a mech for? Heavies seem crowded and lights aren't as popular.

The canon mechs in general tended to be "monstrosity amalgam of epic proportions". It was like they had grade school kids that didnt know how to draw designing most of them.

And if you read the post you would see I suggested having a mech pack so one of each weight class. Then sell it as a normal mech pack.

I think a time jump may be in order for the next batch of clams.

At least for assaults, as the only omni available is the Kingfisher, which is kinda.. bad, and only furthers the Dire Wolf as the top tier clam assault. Unless clams start getting their battlemechs, which Is a whole other set of problems.

Mr. Gargles and his twin are pretty "meh" as-is.
