When I was still in Germany with ~100ms ping I always wondered if I could play back home. Now I'm already in Indonesia and I'm still able to play decently with ~270ms ping. The lag is definitely noticeable but it's okay for a non competitive player.

For SEA and Australian players, are you doing fine playing with your ping? We are fortunate that our mechs aren't made of flesh and bone so they can last for a while.

Definately work better with heavies and assualts, and i never see the 1000+ dmg the leetz drop in ss's but i do alright, usually well within the top half of my drop

i used to have pings round 260-70 and it was better than now (300+) much over 330 and i may as well not bother at all. all sorts of weird things happen. eh, ah well. i.a.o (improvise adapt overcome.... to a certain extent)

fast lights scare me more than a front-on direwhale. just cant reg hits on the little buggers!

What's "ss's"?

I think I'll tryhard to do a 1000+ damage match with my current ping just for fun :D

praise HSR, it really helps people with high pings to not get a big disadvantage as it normally would be.

well im not sure if you guys seen us around, but I am from 5SSP, pretty much the largest SEA unit around i would say. We all run at 230+ ping.

Gameplay isn't really affected imo, because of HSR. It's when HSR fails then we can feel the heat. Oh the major gripe about playing at our ping is having to aim into the empty space AHEAD of a light. You learn to compensate for lasers or you wouldn't be able to do much damage.

I've done plenty of games where i've gotten over 1k damage. No such thing as high ping = impossible to get good score

Doing alright. Some days I can't hit anything but that's life.

Aussie here with 250-270 odd ping.

When my ping is steady, I don't have much issue leading targets with lasers. A light running full bolt sideways though and swerving everywhere can get tricky and requires some hefty leading. If my connection starts to get flaky for whatever reason however and spikes over 300 ping (it happens from time to time), that's when it really starts to effect my game and hitreg turns to crap and it feels like I'm a lame duck.

Oh and I've gotten my fair share of 1k dmg games. So long as its steady in the usual 250-270 ping, I feel it doesn't effect my gameplay.

This guy has been dropping in the queue with me tonight since I've been using the same mech and spectating the matches I've seen this 300 ping guy DC and do 0 damage 3 times now.

Feel bad for the guy.

300-ish ping by default in SEA.

I honestly don't notice much, unless I fire a PPC really close. Then I see it detonate on nearby geometry half a second later.

I adapted long ago to playing MWO and other games with a 250-280ish ping

And I have had plenty of shining moments in games and I pilot lights all the time especially locusts

this is from the other night

171kph Deaths Knell commando with 2mpl 2ml, pulled off 4 kills 4 assists 588 damage with a 251ms ping

Clueless players is more of a problem to me than ping, but when it does occasionally go over 300ms I find MWO to be unplayable

Also I have Cable but play over a wireless connection because I dont really have a choice.

My ping is generally around the 216ms to 300ms range. Spikes bring it over 300ms.

Compared to other games, this feels like +100ms due to the low client-server polling rate and bad netcode.

Host state registration in this game, as compared to the server state registration used by most online games today, somehow compensate for that when it comes to hit reg and damage output. But it also means you won't escape damage as easily.

LIght mechs are difficult to hit without considerable target leadon. Aiming for the legs is a must. You are probably better off focusing on medium to assault mechs.

You can experience considerable warping if you play light mechs. Medium to Assault mechs are ok.

Your damage output might actually be better with PPCs or ballistics, as laser durations don't work in your favor if you have high ping, as it would be more difficult. You probably get better results on pulse lasers or medium lasers than large lasers. SRMs are pretty good too.

You can still reach to the top of your public pug group, even get as much as 6 to 7 kills and reach even as high as 1200+ damage. On CW, you can still reach anywhere from 1000 to 2000 damage, maybe even past that, enough to make you a strong supporting player, though difficult to be a superstar one.

When the whim of the servers allows, I have decent games. Sometimes though, my hit detection encounters a wild gazebo and is smote into a puddle.

Adapt, grit teeth, jump into a brawler or LURM boat.

Going to clarify:

HIgh ping tends to mean that due to the laser duration times, it will be more difficult for the laser to stay focused on the target, so it results in a more stretched out damage. My highest public queue damage were almost achieved with ballistics, SRMs and PPCs.

As a South American player stuck with a bad ISP, I must say that PGI did a very good job with HSR.

Ping is nothing as long as its stable, mine is consistently around 400 or more 370 on good occasions.

Stability is what matters most then you can get your eye in.

Would a EU server help you guys to get lower pings? I do ask as the idea of an EU server is still in the discussion and I would like to know if this would also help players outside of EU as well. I mean it should improve due to lower distance doesnt it?

One server from the games origin point is always sufficient, all you need is a reliable service to access it from.

The ping will depend on your geographical location but like I say if its consistent you can get your timing down.

My ping is slightly worse when pinging from Indonesia to Germany as opposed to Indonesia to Canada. So I guess the answer is no for SEA and part of Australian players.
