The last few times I've been solo-dropping in CW, I noticed an inordinate number of green champions, leading me to believe these were most likely trial mechs with new players in them.
CW is a cruel world, the hardcore mode. Why are there trial mechs dropping there, then? With, presumably, new players? Will they have an enjoyable experience, with rudimentary knowledge of the game, facing - not all the time, of course, but still - organised groups with min-maxed drop decks honed to perfection over the course of many spawncamped drops?
I understand the lack of players in a mode PGI devoted so much time and resources to is a concern, and that seals to be clubbed are necessary content for whales, so I understand that my more radical proposal of barring new players from entering CW at all will not earn either the PGI's nor the whales' acceptance.
What I suggest instead is to establish a minimum GXP limit on being shown the CW alert notifications. What I suppose is happening is that these new players see this flashing square in the lower right corner of their screen, and not knowing better what they're in for, click it, entering dangerous waters that are only for the big fish. Let's avoid that. Let's not show them the alert notifications asking players to join an attack or defence.
Not until they acquire an arbitrary GXP total, that is. Since GXP is hopefully already tracked by PGI (I reckon this is connected with what the "Experience points" line is for in your base stats in your website profile), let's say a minimum of 50k GXP barrier to entry. Enough for two-three top tier weapon modules (3.5k GXP a piece), enough for 2 top tier mech modules (can't find the info atm and don't remember how much seismic and radar derp were, but around 15k GXP a piece, or something to that effect). Hopefully enough of playtime to be able to bring mechs of their own that've been modified to the possible extent.
Thoughts?

Hello and i would add.
CW without CW rewards is not attractive at all... Even maps or mode is really interesting, nobody, pugs or solo veterans would play it without rewards and in addition large premades will have nothing to drop against for theirs easy-shame farming vs half newbies team + half solo veterans.
Big waste of ressources and time, if players don't play CW isn't theirs faults, it's PGI's fault only.
Will they correct thoses or only persist a year more? Well it seem they want persist.
